Fresh Fish & Chips Cafe & Restaurant in Canterbury

Stopped for a quick meal and was amazed! Fabulous fish perfectly fried and a heap of golden chips but it was the Service that set them apart: very quick, extremely helpful and attentive (we sat outside in the sun to eat). Highly highly recommended!

It's nice to have fish and chips once in a while and I enjoyed the meal. However the shop seems to be accepting only cash couple hours before closing.

Best fish and chips in the centre of Canterbury by far! Great quality food and a service that goes above and beyond. Give City Fish Bar a try and you'll be going back again and again!

The best chip shop in Canterbury by far. The chips are vegan friendly and they also do a selection of vegan options like tofish, battered plantbased sausages and battered mushrooms on a skewer. As well as all that the customer service is spot on.

Not the best in town, Haddock was soft, listful and the batter was falling off it and a funny colour, never seen orange batter before, the cod was the same and the chips well nothing to write home about, soft n not a crunch to be heard or had. Sorry folks have had better

I have been visiting this fish & chip shop for quite a few years since I worked and spent a fair bit of time in Canterbury. Always gives really good quality food, hot and fresh. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My favorite, fish bites and chips.

Today I popped in for the first time as I couldn’t stop myself from smelling the wonderful aroma of fish and chips from the town centre. I was greeted by a nice man at the counter who served me up a fresh battered sausage and chips, which I then proceeded wolfed down on one of the nice wooden benches outside the shop. Delicious! Proper traditional chips. You can tell care has gone into the prep, not just throwing any old rubbish into the fryer - in fact, I’ve not had a bag of chips like that in years, reminds me of being at the seaside. What I also appreciated is the owner came out to check on his customers and seemed to genuinely care and enjoy the banter - even giving a customers dog a sausage to munch on. Nice moment.Definitely coming back here to try the fish next time I’m in town, and so should you if you’re about!
