The Corner House Canterbury Restaurant in Canterbury

We visited the Corner House a few week ado, l had the belly pork, delicious, my husband had the fish.The presentation was 10/10 .Staff very attentive .You open the door to this little gem and its amazing , like the tardis.So reasonably priced, it included the drinks £30/£40 pp.Are we going again, ABSOLUTELY , especially now we have found this place - 5 ***** all the way.

We visited as we were staying nearby in Bridge, and always like to visit well rated restaurants when we visit new areas. Being honest, we loved this place; indoors the setting was lovely even if from outside it feels like a strange location, and the starters were great. Unfortunately though we were let down by our mains - my wife and I shared the lamb shoulder for 2 but both found it very bland and it didn’t taste of much at all (albeit was cooked well and very tender). We did let the chef know when asked about it, but it all felt a bit awkward and as if he thought we didn’t know what we were talking about. At this price point (which I think is fairly priced), we were let down and would have visited again on the trip if it wasn’t for this and/or if made to feel a bit more like they cared when they got the feedback (don’t ask if you only want to hear positive feedback).

We stayed in the Attic Room for 2 nights. The staff are lovely and pleasant, very accommodating and eager to please. Loved having our breakfast in bed brought to the door each morning, and the restaurant food was amazing, some of the best food we’d ever had. Look forward to coming back!

Lovely rooms, the attic room was a treat. Very central - only a few minutes walk to the centre of the city.The issue is breakfast, you have to have it in your room and you have no choices. Our second morning was exactly the same as the first.When we checked out the staff didn't ask about my stay or say goodbye.Given the cost it was a little disappointing.

Couldn't fault a single thing with the service, food, atmosphere and facilities.A wonderful experience from start to finish, our party of 16 were well catered for and they are still talking about the evening 3 weeks later.I wouldn't dine anywhere else in Canterbury.

The Corner House is well worth the few minutes it takes to walk beyond the city walls of Canterbury. Don't be put off by the roadside location, what waits inside is a real treat of excellent food and great service. Highly recommended. We'll visit again when next in Canterbury.

First visit to The Corner House, and as a group of six, we had a a very good time. We started off outside in the well presnted garden area with drinks and snacks, before moving inside for dinner. The menu covered all bases and we all really enjoyed our different choices. The service was excellent too. So, if you're looking for somewhere which offers a lot more than the chains in Canterbury High Street, try the Corner House, you won't be disappointed.

This being my first time in Canterbury (and the UK in general), my friends and I wanted to get some authentic British food. This place was only a 5-minute walk from our hotel (Hilton) and so we gave it a try.The ambiance is amazing: they have lit candles all the way down, and a big, antique mirror in the back of the room that opens up the space while cleverly making the door to the bathroom entries more subtle. We did not see the rooms at all, but we can safely assume more of the same decor!Anyway, on to the food. They gave us some rich, brown bread with butter to share (only problem is that there wasn't enough!), and the Elderflower Spritzer was very delicious.The main courses were more expensive than we were expecting with a $$ rating on Maps, but we just ordered one plate for each pair of us, and our waitress took it all in very gracious stride. I forgot to take pictures because it smelled so good and I hadn't had a full meal in several hours but my friends got two Venison dishes and I shared a Pork Belly dish with my other friend.The pork belly came with mashed potatoes, warm cabbage salad, gravy, a kind of jam, and a meat fritter. The belly itself was extremely tender, and the extras were delicious.My friends testify that the Venison Suet Pudding was really good as well (as long as you don't hate mushrooms), and it also came with mash and cabbage, and probably additional components.Overall, I highly recommend. The waitress (I think her name was Clare) was very friendly, and dealt very kindly with the issue of a bill being split 3 ways with 2 of them being paid with cash! A varied menu, perfect for foodies, quality ingredients, and moody ambiance all added to an overall amazing experience.P.S. the attached photo shows a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, a Good Food Guide recommendation, a 9.2/10 for Guest Review Awards by Booking.com, a Michelin Recommendation, and a 5-star AA award for a restaurant with rooms.

Excellent service, fantastic quality food. Definitely one to look out for. We spent more than normal, not because it was expensive, but we wanted to try more dishes than normal. I personally had probably the best mojito I've had.

First visit and definitely won't be the last!! Excellent food and first rate service from the wonderful Clare!! Both my wife and I had the flat iron steak which was cooked exactly to our requirements and was so flavoursome .... and the sticky date & ale pudding was worth the visit alone .... deeeeelishous!! Highly recommended!!
