The Granville in Canterbury

Wedding reception held Friday, 8th April.Had absolutely perfect time. Tim was so so helpful and nothing was too much trouble beforehand or on the day.Food was delicious, thanks to the amazing chefs, and the waiting staff were excellent.Everyone commented on the food and venue. Couldn't have asked for anything more perfect (except maybe the weather could have been warmer...not Tim's fault!!!)Thank you so so much!!!

Not great unfortunately, waitresses both pleasant and one very good at sorting out the problem. The 1st problem being the buy a steak get one free sign on the table shouldn't have been there, we decided on the steaks only too be told it doesn't apply, its evenings only, it doesn't say that anywhere. 2nd, then ordered beef stroganoff. It was only when halfway through that I said to the wife that this is pork and she agreed we also decided it was bland and disappointing as well as being beef. The waitress went to the head chef who said its definitely beef. I guess if you just put it in the microwave and it says beef then it's beef. What does that say about the Head Chef!Anyway, we agreed drinks for free and paid up. Just as well Pork wasn't a religion issue.

Place is beautifully renovated. Staff that served us was a bit abrupt though, no eye contact and kept putting off our orders, walking away and come back again to walk away again. The food was not amazing. Ordered pork chop and was bland. Hubby ordered Granville burger and didnt expect it to be quite spicy. No indications on the menu at all. Waitress took our bill and I had to remind her the kid's ice cream. Ice cream was like butter full of sugar. Too sweet and too thick. Toilets no changing tables.With not so good service, would have expected food to be the saving grace at least. Place may be great just for drinks and appetizers.Would not recommend for a meal.

Very nice lunch. However they couldn't find our booking on their system which was a bit embarrassing. After our coffee we asked for our bill but then waited about 25 minutes before we then had to go and ask again for the bill. It was very busy so we hope that was just a blip and Will definitely go back as the food was delicious

Excellent food, well served by exceptionally helpful staff who could not do enough to help. My young neice is at that stage where everything has to be sausages, and despite them not actually having sausages on the roast menu, they managed to rustle some up. Excellent experience, would recommend, and we will be back.

Excellent! I had the five bean chilli served on sweet potato which was lovely. My friend had the haddock, bubble & squeak with poached egg. Both dinners were gorgeous! We had the cookie dough for pudding, which was ok but I wouldn't rave about it. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely clean, cosy atmosphere (and the toilets were nice & clean!) - would recommend with no hesitation!

Lovely 3 course lunch. I would highly recommend the tempura cauliflower as well as the leek and cheese macaroni. I was disappointed with the cookie dough dessert, whilst there was nothing wrong with it, it was different to the description on the menu so not what I was expecting. However, the starter and main course and friendly staff meant we still left very happy and very full!

1st visit, and worth it. Looking for somewhere on the road between Canterbury and Sellindge, saw The Granville, and thought why not. Plenty car parking space, so easy to park.As the norm now, table service only, but being a nice day we sat in the back garden, tables socially distenced.Menu good and varied, main menu and a fixed price set menu, set menu between £12 to £16, depending on how many courses you chose. We chose the set menu, actually we did a bit of mix and match. Service was good and food excellent. Chose the steak, and it was cooked to our liking, along with mixed salad and fries, dessert was unusual but tasty.Was a very enjoyable visit, on leaving the pub had become quite busy though the inside is quite large and cosy.So if passing just pop in, don't take my word for it.

I visited The Granville on Friday 22 November 2019 in the evening, a weekday during term time. I was with one other person. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place.I parked in the pub car park outside - parking was easy.The restaurant comprises primarily of one fairly large sized main dining area with a large wood burner as a centrepiece - there are plenty of tables with full table service. We booked in advance, which was easy and is the best option as the restaurant was very busy despite it's fairly remote location.The pub and restaurant have a very warm and welcoming family atmosphere due to the decor, the layout and the mix of lights and candles. The kitchen is open and visible, which gives you even greater confidence in a restaurant. The tables were larger than often, giving you plenty of space. The restaurant is also dog friendly for those with four legged friends.The team were very friendly, welcoming and attentive - we had absolutely no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.I enjoyed a chicken and ham hock terrine for my starter, the burger with added camembert and bacon for my main course and a part baked cookie dough for my desert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was very good value for money, I paid around £35 for three courses and drinks, which felt good value for money for gourmet pub dining.Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and visit again.
