Where is The Oyster Bed?

🏠 Thanet Way, Whitstable CT5 3JE

"The Oyster Bed is a warm and welcoming pub you can pop into for a pint of real ale or share a restaurant-quality meal with family. Come inside and relax in a pub that looks and feels like a stylish modern living space. Bowls, vases, ornaments, and books sit on shelves. Soft lighting, intimate booths, and comfortable chairs give us a relaxed and informal look and feel. There are traditional touches too. Like wooden beams, exposed brickwork, and a real log fire. On warm days, sit on the patio or dine in the beer garden while the children explore our play areas. There’s an indoor zone for the under 5s, and older children will enjoy sliding, climbing, and running round our outdoor play area. Rotisserie chicken is our forte."

Lovely lunch time meal with beautiful decor, lovely staff and wonderful food! I had a gorgeous Cheddar, Leak and Potatoe pie with mash and veg. Delicious! Very well priced too.

Great meal. Friendly atmosphere and very reasonably priced.

Greeted with a warm welcome from staff, despite the fact that we had no reservation. Service was excellent, but not rushed between courses. The food was excellent and good sized portions. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area

Turned up for a birthday celebration to discover that they are running a limited menu because they are changing the menu in a weeks time. 8 mains, 2 of which are burgers, and 3 puddings. 1 of the mains were unavailable along with several components of the other options (most of which we were not informed of prior to receiving our food) none of the deserts were available. Very poor service from the kitchen. Waiting staff were pleasant. Won't be returning

The most recent staff are very accommodating and helpful. Especially Victoria. Please pass on to her how efficient she is. On a previous visit she was practically on her own in the bar/restaurant area and no one could fault her speed and pleasant demeanour You need to look after her as she is a real asset to your business

I tool my mum, son and his girlfriend here for lunch. It's the first time we have visited here.We were greeted on entry by a very friendly and welcoming young lady who showed us to our table. Her name was Victoria and she was our server for our time there. She made us aware of any changes to the menu and our drinks were with us within 2 minutes. Our food came all together and was hot, fresh and delicious.Victoria and another lady checked on us whilst we were eating and Victoria did again when we had finished to check that everything was OK.The same applied for our deserts. We had such a lovely lunch and the food really was amazing that we will definitely be visiting again soon.

I went to the Oyster Bed for lunch with my family. On arrival I could see the waitress behind the bar was run off her feed. Despite this, Emily was amazing, she still gave each and every customer her undivivided professional attention to ensure they are everyone was completely happy. We also had seen the lunch before tome and menu on the Google site for this restaurant and our doors not had their hearts set on This. The menu was not available on the day but Emily sorted out a small adaption so we could have these choicesThank you to the Chef, Emily and all at the Oyster Bed for such a lovely afternoon

Ever felt like you have intruded at a relatives home unexpectedly and thoroughly outstayed your welcome? That sums up our most recent visit. If the member of staff waiting our table could have told us to hurry up and leave I’m sure they would have done. Our requests for more time to make our menu choices were met with eye rolls and sighs despite clearly having a small baby that we needed to prioritise. After our main meal, when a few people had left the table for comfort breaks, we asked to wait for our party to return before making our dessert orders. They said they wanted to take ours to get them through quickly and didn’t wait for them. When the staff member returned to us to explain that not all the desserts we wanted were available, we made new choices but upon trying to double check our order we were told “as long as you all get something”. Upon paying, and splitting payment between a few cards, they seemed to want us all the pay at the bar so they didn’t have to keep coming back and forth to our table. The service was so bad it actually became funny in the end. The service was rude and surly. Patience with our group was non-existent, which is not just unprofessional but humiliating when you know people within your own group need patience because of visible and hidden disabilities. I won’t be returning based on this recent experience.

Great service and great food. This is a really nice, family friendly pub.Food: the food was of a really good quality and the menu was varied. Lots of choices for kids too. Highly recommend the rotisserie they do!Atmosphere: this is definately family friendly. Outside play area (climbing frame) and a small bit inside for smaller kids. The staff were really friendly, happy and attentive.Price: decent value for money - a meal for 2 adults and 2 kids (adult stake, rotisserie, couple of sides, drinks and 2 kids meals and dessert) was about £50.
