Great roast. Lovely piece of fish also, Hake with Fennel was banging. Amazing bread and butter my missus would kill for again and a lovely glass of wine. Our server was lovely also and the settings of the village are idyllic.

Awful experience: dreadful service and poor quality food at exorbitant prices. £23:50 for a chicken & bacon pie with pathetic filling and new potatoes: he even asked me if I wanted to pay 10% service charge!!!

Excellent food, exquisite selection, friendly welcoming staff and great atmosphere. 10 out of 10 with no doubt. Highly recommended.

A lovely old pub in a picturesque village, but what a disappointment. The lunch (and evening?) menu was limited to one fish, one meat and one vegan. The lamb and chips was literally that with an anchovy jus (no mint sauce) for £17 with cabbage an extra £4 plus 10% service charge. The lamb was a cube (presumably frozen). The vegan dish was broccoli etc., and consisted of one stalk, two tough spring onions and a tin (?) of white beans with a sauce over. One comment was poncey and overpriced! Notice outside "Good Pub Food" was very misleading. It used to be so good.

Small pub that looks amazing. Was totally shocked at price for a pint, crisps and glass of wine. £17!!! It is a lovely pub but boy, be prepared for costs. Also table was dirty even though should have been covid clean. Great walk from here along the Little Stour. Nice place.

I've visited the Rose many times over the last 30+ years, but their full meals are now priced beyond reasonable expectation. Gone are favourites enjoyed in the past at a fair price. So sad. They couldn't even oblige with a side of chips...

Lovely looking pub but a disappointing Sunday lunch. Booked a table but was made to wait 45 minutes before being seated. No vegetarian option for roast dinner so asked for the main menu vegetarian tart to come with roast trimmings but was charged £4 extra for this. Now questioning if had we ordered the tart, would we have received a single slice on its own? Ordered one chicken pie which came with no mash, chips, veg etc.. just the pie alone which is steep for £18. Roast was nice but very small portions. Asked for some gravy as veggie option didn't come with any and was given a thimbles worth was made to feel guilty as was the last of the gravy (at 3pm). We were still hungry after. Service was almost passive aggressive and when raised issue about the pie no helpful suggestions were made and felt spoken down to. Such a shame.

We had a lovely afternoon here, sadly arrived too late for a meal as we couldn't make it until after 3pm, however we called ahead and the wonderful lady at the bar saved us a table and also promised she would try and get us fed something! They did not disappoint. Perfect parfait, delicious sourdough, cods roe and crisps pork and pickle - all paired with a beautiful local wine. Lush interior and a cute village to ramble around after our feast. This pub oozes with the love of a chef, everyone who attends benefits from being a part of someone's dream, not job. Love it.

Disappointing, because this used to be a regular stop for many visitors with good selection of well kept beers and pub food. Not any longer.Food and drink options are limited, the Rose now offers an expensive, small menu. No options whatsoever for children. Atmosphere is awkward, not welcoming.Only star is given to the bar staff who try their best and are friendly enough to serve an ale.

To have something different to eat when you go to a pub is very refreshing. The food was outstanding. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely evening with delicious food.
