Staff were rude and looked like they wanted to be there even less than I did, and I'd rather have been at a funeral. After waiting 45+ mins for mains it then took 15 mins to scoop ice cream into a bowl for the kids after asking 3 times I stood at the bar until they did it (even offered to do it myself to help out)

Unbelievably slow!This place has a reputation for being slow at serving, however we thought we would give it another chance. That was a mistake as we ended up walking out again (as did others)There was only ONE person serving behand the bar and they were not exactly fast either. The que just kept getting longer and longer and people were running out of patience waiting at the bar. We walked out after about 15 mins of waiting and went to another pub, where we had several meals and drink. That’s business that the Cherwell lost as well as any future business.If this place doesn’t make an effort to acknowledge or serve people, they will simply go somewhere else. The Cherwell is poorly managed, the staff are unprofessional and they certainly do not value their customers.Avoid this place at all costs !

Great pub for dining and an awesome night out! There is a menu that suits even the fussiest of eaters (me) also a sports pub with tvs everywhere and loads of fruitys so keeps the fella happy. Would recommend 👌

Cherwell is the best pub in Banbury. From the US, visited 8 years ago and again this year. Cheap beer, awesome service, pool/darts/slots all fun. Great location. Breakfast was delicious.

We came in for a late lunch. Which was fine ( not great food but you get what you pay for) the chap behind the bar was lovely. BUT we left instead of ordering another drink due to the overwhelming smell of cannabis. We won't rush back.
