Bengal Spice in Cherwell

Excellent food. Service could be a bit friendlier and proactive but would highly recommend. The chicken rezalla and bindi bhaji were top tier.

Great takeaway as always and fun service.

Great meal nothing to much trouble

Excellent service and even better food. We had a very hot naga chilli dish that was full of flavour and a delicious pasanda. We'll be back soon.

Good food, good service, not crazily friendly, but i enjoyed my dinner

Had a very simple meal for one as a take out. The curry was fresh and the meat was tender, and the nan bread was light and fluffy. Only downside was they don't do a range of chutneys to go with the poppadoms.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary this year in Deddington and had a really first rate meal here. Very attentive service and fresh food cooked to perfection. Well done Bengal Spice we enjoyed a great evening.

I have only given 2 stars because the food was good. However, arriving at the restaurant at 7.45, being shown to the wrong table, being asked to move, waiting 30 mins to have a drink order taken, then not receiving our food until 10pm!!! The manager was extremely dismissive, not only to us but the tables either side of us who were experiencing the same delayed service. The manager did not want to know, when we complained, in fact his response to our 'we've waited 2 hours for our food' was ....'and?' Wow. Just wow. Will not be returning.

Food is always awesome but they made me wait over an hour to collect a takeaway (after waiting 45 mins at home). It seemed as though all their regular customers got served before I did and they left me till the very end as they didn't know me.I can't fault the food, it's fantastic but you pay for it. They gave me a free beer, but still when I got home I was really angry about having to wait so long.If you're going to charge premium prices you need to get the customer service right too. If you'd told me I'd had to wait in your restaurant for an hour I'd have got a Chinese instead.

Kitchen is let down by front of house staff.If you want to eat here or collect an order and don't live in Deddington, pretend you do! The '45 minute wait' for collection is a lie, one that you I forgive if they are busier than expected. But not when after nearly 2 hours of waiting, locals walk into the restaurant and leave minutes later with their order they placed some 40 minutes after mine had been placed. The final chase up of my meal resulted in a further wait where I was presented with my meal. A 3 minute drive to my hosts home and the food was cold, the poppadoms were smashed to pieces, not just a little broken, full on smashed, the chips were all crispy and could be snapped in half. The curry did have a nice taste but soured by my anger.I suspect the food had been made and forgotten about in the kitchen and rather than the staff bothering to find out where the food was after the first hour, they appeased the locals, greeting them nicely, ensuring they recieved their food in a timely maner. I should have got a refund and walked out but I trusted the constant 'won't be long'. Only apology was a token 'sorry for the wait' as I was walking out of the door.IF they sorted out front of house staff, then this could be a great place and well worth a visit.
