Horse and Jockey Pub in Cherwell

Recommended by owner of self catering accommodation we were staying in just 15mins walk away, this pub is a real little gem. Clearly where the locals go, on the Saturday night we visited, it was bustling and friendly. A warm welcome from Nikki, the landlady, made us feel at home and very attentive waiting staff made for a slick service. This is not a gastro pub but what you get are huge portions of good pub grub at reasonable prices. It was everything a local pub should be.

What a lovely find.Really pleasant smiling staff.Bright, cheery and clean.I arrived at 6pm opening time and ordered a steak with peppercorn sauce and have to say it was one of the best pub meals I have eaten.Within a half hour the place was buzzing, I overheard the lady behind the bar saying they were already fully booked and this on a Thursday night and very large premises, says it all, what better recommendation can you get.Would definitely return.Thoroughly recommend this place if your in the area and looking to eat out.

Just returned from a visit for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. 4 choices of meats so I had to have all 4.Perfectly cooked and such a colourful plate with all the vegetablesHighly recommended 👌

Fabulous simple country pub, food is straight forward but great quality & very generous portions so go with your whole appetite! Not my first visit & I doubt my last...

Went for a drive around today and ended up stopping for lunch. So much choice on the menu and such friendly staff. Fantastic prices. We will definitely be visiting again

Absolutely lovely meal at the horse and jockey last night!!! The food was incredible and the portions are massive so you definitely won't be leaving hungry, the pricing of the food was also brilliant. The staff were friendly and it's just an overall lovely and welcoming atmosphere inside. Due to it being my mums birthday meal they even allowed me to bring in a cake with candles and brought it out to us after our meal which was such a nice thing to do so thank you very much. I would highly recommend to everyone.
