Superb food from a beautiful pub along the canal. I had Grimsby Cod and Chips. Lovely and hot, thin crispy batter. Chips were the best I’ve had in ages. Mushy peas and tartar sauce. Perfect. Hubby had steak, chips, onion rings and baked beans. Again perfectly cooked (he ordered medium rare, and it was) steak, no gristle or fat. Generous amount of chips. Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Great background music too. Prices were very reasonable for the good quality food. Booked to go back tomorrow. Thank you.

We came here because it has multiple vegan options on the menu. Unfortunately, it was some of the worst cooked food I've had in years. I think our meal consisted of pie out of a tin, tinned carrots and Smash. Bar staff were all shouting at each other. Cheap supermarket wines the only options. Literally only good thing about this pub was there was a puppy and there probably won't be a puppy when you go.

Lovely meet up place with family. Excellent service and staff were notably polite and friendly without seeming false. Had a delicious carvery, best in a long while with everything looking really fresh and cooked perfectly. This will definitely be our regular meet up point from now on.

Pleasant dinner here. The lady serving was very bubbly, and knew how to handle the varying crowds. The food was really good - both the mains and the dessert!

The Boat Inn is a delightful find, with a good selection of beers and a varied food menu. There is a carvery available for Sunday lunch. The pub also has a large sheltered garden for those sunny summer days.

Great lille pub. Near a canal. Food was amazing. The owner was lovely and her husband is the chief. A few photos of morse as he filmed there.

We stopped here for lunch after finding several other pubs full and being told the food was good but were very disappointed. The chunky chips were tasty and the cod was just about OK but the scampi was very poor (encased in a thick layer of batter, which was overcooked on the outside and soggy inside) and the vegetarian pie was frankly inedible - a lump of unappetising stodge, encased in soggy pastry. Maybe the chef had the day off when we there, but if this is what the Inn serves up normally, I'm not surprised the place was almost empty. I'm sorry to say, the owner's reply is simply untrue: most of the pie was left on the plate and I explained why my guest had not wanted to finish it to him in person.
