The Royal Sun in Cherwell

I recently visited Oxford and found this little gem just down the road in Begbroke. Very charming and inviting from the outside and even better once we went Inside! Lovely atmosphere and very good selection of gins! Had a bite to eat which was delicious and the owners were more than welcoming. We went to go back the next day on Saturday but the pub was closed for a private event which looked like a great party I believe a wedding but absolutely packed. We can't wait to visit again and highly recommend!

Great spot for a lunch with friends especially if sunny outside has the terrace offers good seating space. Very tasty French fries and overall meal, but unfortunately we were unlucky with the waiting time for very simple dishes. Kids waiting 40min for a meal is something pretty difficult to manage as a parent, and those should have been prioritized, as adults could wait more if needed...

Thank you so much to Jonathan, Mo and the rest of The Royal Sun team for hosting our wedding party last night. We had great comments from our guests regarding the food, service and how lovely the pub is. We really appreciate everything to did to accommodate us. See you very soon, Kirsty & Nathan

This is now a lovely pub. Just been there. Unfortunately they have lost their chef. So are not currently serving food. We have Iived in the village for 7 1/2 years . We have been there more times in the last 6 months than the previous 7 years. The new landlords are lovely and welcoming. Support this lovely local pub

Arrived at the above place, been a few Years since i was last on site... Met Jonathan, owner, i explained who i was and there to do, the guy was an absolute legend, very patient with us, unfortunately he said he wasn't too impressed with the services not been carried out in a while, so i reassured him what we do and what i did.. I contacted Initial because he had a problem, and its been dealt with accordinly.. So appreciate them letting us on site to carry out our services.. #The Royal Sun, #Great Food.. #Hygiene Services, #RSH.. 👍

Delicious food and very good service. Lovely pub for Sunday lunch.

Great friendly service, food was superb, lovely place to be, nice atmosphere and catered well for kids with drawing etc.Only feedback would be that the kids meals came with one small sausage, my two sons reported they were lovely but could have done with one more, we would have gladly paid a small fee for one more etc. Also, the wedges with the burger were super greasy, but actually tasted superb - so not really a negative.Overall though we loved it, way better than the local competitors, thank you, we will be back again soon 👍🏻

Dreadful owner who treated everyone rudely and disrespectfully. Can’t even believe someone running a restaurant could be so sour. The food was bland and the potatoes were so dry and tasteless. Bathroom door was difficult to open from the bathroom side. Watched three people struggle to open a heavy door with a tiny metal knob up top. Also dangerous to have the door right next to the sink & hand dryer. See photo.It was hot inside and honestly we wished we didn’t stop there. Not much good to say except the waitresses were nice.

The food was sublime. My half-duck with courgettes, potato with cheese and vegetables had a superb taste and texture to it. My partner's likewise, who chose slow cooked BBQ ribs, found that the meat simply came off the bone, and was tender to the touch. A nice little place for anyone passing by.
