Brilliant place if you're a pompous plonker. Otherwise expect to be talked down to.

·

Amazing country pub, food is Michelin star quality and it has everything you could want. Best pub in the south of England

·

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch there today. The inventive and frequently changing menu is always a delight. Today, the mains we selected were roast hake (for 2), cuttlefish with borlotti beans & aioli and roast lamb with asparagus & new potatoes - all fab. This is a gem!Well done to Angus and the team- and particular credit to chef George

Very good parking in the adjacent Lodsworth Larder car park or along the adjacent road side.External seating either in a covered marquee or bench seating in a very pretty garden.Quirky old pub, wood fire was on.Wide choice of Wines, beers( Perry orchard cider was excellent).Excellent menu mainly of local produce, the food and service to a very high standard.

·

The food was brilliant and the tent in the garden is really cosy. Excellent choice of local Beer and Ale too. Service does need improving; this seems to be due to a lack of staff but I know how hard it is to find and retain good waiting staff so I won't quibble too much. Will be back again.

We came here for a lovely dinner on Saturday night. It was a marvel!Started with the devilled kidneys, crispy pork head and crab rarebit. All were fantastically executed and thoroughly delicious. The long horn beef, which we had to share, is a must. It will not be long before we return just have this again. The menu is varied and interesting. Clearly put together by an accomplished and ambitious team. The staff were both charming and attentive to a point.10/10

Good food but snotty staffWent for a late sunday lunch . Arrived and stood at the bar where we were slowly and reluctantly served. Manager a poor communicatorFood was well cooked and table service much improved. Will try and find a friendlier pub next time

Nailing all the little things, with confidence.A concise, but perfectly executed menu - any larger would be suspect. Friendly and kind, but unobtrusive service. A beautiful but relaxing room. Stylish and classy touches throughout. Food is just spot on, unfussy - all about flavour, provenance.Thank you for looking after us. We will recommend you far and wide.

We were really disappointed by our lunch here I get that there were staff shortages but the welcome was unfriendly, and service very slow. We waited over 40 mins for starters that included olives, there was no bread they had run out. The cannelloni became lasagne the chicken was pale and tasteless the fries were soggy, I was overcharged for puddings. Having read good reviews I was really underwhelmed nice setting and interior but there are better pubs within a five mile radius of here.

Beautiful meal in a beautiful setting!Outdoor dining was in a high quality tent which had great atmosphere. Service was perfect, all the staff were really friendly and attentive.Food was definitely the best we’ve had during our stay in South Downs - would recommend the sole and celeriac in particular!
