Lovely pub, very different with an unusual, but very tasty menu. Friendly staff and well worth a visit.

Lovely staff and interesting menu. Delicious food.Only complaint are the portion sizes. Fish and chips were a decent size however other things on the menu were quite small. For example the eggs, salmon and toast was sold as a main and cost £12.50 and consisted of one piece of bread, one egg and a few slices of smoked salmon. Similarly a gnocchi dish was £15 and there was maybe about 12 pieces of gnocchi. Had to eat again a couple hours later.

Took our 5 year old for a Valentine’s Day lunch treat while our toddler was at nursery. How wonderful to dine in such a beautiful pub, enjoy such delicious and gorgeously-prepared food and attentive service. We will be back!

Imaginative menu, great wines and lovely people serving. The ambience of this lovely pub- restaurant is warm and lively with open fires and shabby chic/ rustic decor. A stone's throw from Petworth it is nestled in a village location in the heart of the South Downs. Parking is on-street and can be awkward as the place seems to always be busy. Essential to book.

what a shocking experience we had Sat evening 15th Jan 2022 at the Horse guards Inn a local pub we tried for a double birthday celebration.Basically there were two issues we had on our table of four, we had three courses and on the main course two dishes came 5 minutes earlier than the other two causing the dishes to become too cold. we raised the issue with staff who said he would pass it through, which I presumed was to the chef or manager. nothing was really done at that point, the overall quality of the courses were very tasty but spoiled by main course delivery speed. when we came to pay the bill we noticed a bottle of £50 red wine was on our invoice, we had 1 bottle of white and a couple of pre dinner drinks so it was not ours, it was a clear error. This is the part that enraged and ruined our evening causing me to spend time writing the review The manager had a serious attitude problem when we raised the cold main course problem coupled with the invoice error. He refused to accept the complaint by saying that no one else had complained "quite irrelevant" really. He then seemed to imply we were only looking for a reduced bill, became rude, sarcastic and argumentative. We paid the full £212.65 bill. By not accepting two dishes be removed from the bill that he rudely offered we clearly demonstrated our intent. In summary the young manager i believe is called Ben has got some serious customer relation training required as he should never argue with customers when issues arise, it's commercial suicide for a business.

I visited with friends on Friday evening. What a great pub, super friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. All the food is freshly cooked to order from home grown or locally sourced ingredients and couldn't be better! I can't recommend them highly enough.

Very nice pub, adorably decorated with odds and ends. The food is good and quite original. Fairly extensive wine list. A small garden adjoins the house if you want to enjoy the sun and the warm summer evenings. The whole nestled in the heart of a charming village in West Sussex. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous pub in a beautiful part of the country!Petworth worth a visit itself, and Horse Guards Inn located in nearby Tillingdon should definitely be on your possible spots for lunch in the area. Quaint old pub with a casual, open garden with chickens at the back. Food was really good. Bread basket to start was great, while the lamb and plaice dishes were both delicious. Hope to return soon!

When we got there, the kitchen was closed so, I can't comment on the food 🤔. The staff was very welcoming, we had Guinness - and that was great. You can eat/drink inside or outside, is not a big place but is lovely and the village is so beautiful as if from story books. I hope if you go there, you will enjoy it as much as we did🤗
