We planned to visit this pub for a drink as a midpoint on our walk between Chesham and Great Missenden on a sunny, warm bank holiday weekend. Staff were openly hostile to us, and refused to serve us a drink even though there were plenty of available picnic tables in their beer garden that lunchtime. They also turned away another couple who arrived at the same time who would also like a quiet drink in the sunshine. We have never experienced anything like it and would highly recommend avoiding this place.

Delightful food. The place is starting to look a little tired. The setting in the village is very nice and picturesque.

We were there earlier today and the food was sensational, great service and lovely garden to sit and enjoy our food and drinks

Charming little place perfectly located for a post walk drink and meal in the beautiful Chiltern countryside. The wonderful dog friendly beer garden is a bit of a sun trap, great place to spend a lazy afternoon. Had the pasta Graziemille which was lovely - they also have Sidepocket For a Toad from Tring brewery on tap - what’s not to like!

I visited the village to trace my ancestors and went here for lunch with a friend. The building is beautiful and the garden in which we sat was lovely, with a friendly cat bonus! The food we had was absolutely delicious, my friend had the liver dish and I tried the chicken valdostanna, there wasn't a scrap left it was that good. The staff were so nice, really helpful too when I asked about the history of the pub. I went to research the village but I'll definitely be back just for this pub's food and service, thank you.

I'd passed this place on the way to somewhere else and thought my partner and I will give it a go. Situated on the corner of a lovely village green, it looks like any Old world country pub. That in itself would be enough as it is indeed charming and cozy. A lovely beer garden to the rear also adds to the ambience. The beers are from local breweries and are well kept. There appeared to be adequate provision for those wanting wine or spirits too. What was especially nice was the fact that the pub incorporated a lovely Italian restaurant and had so for over 35 years! They hadn't lost their touch in that time. The dishes were simple, but what we had was delicious! Shall definitely visit again both for pub and restaurant. A hidden delight!

Wonderful pub in a beautiful setting. Service outside the front of the pub due to social distancing measures. Service was great with a measure of good banter. Would recommend to any thirtsty cyclist or hiker going through this neck of the woods.

Superb Italian pasta in a great Midsomer Murders location and a pittoresque village! Very affordable.
