Truly historic pub with nooks and crannies, gnarled timbers, worn flagstones and carved oak panels.

Made a stop here after landing at Heathrow. Cool, old English pub with great decor and decent food. The Braun was the best thing we had. Pints of beer were also good.

Brilliant olde worlde pub, with some great local ales. Food was good too, though there was an initial hiccup with the fish not being cooked, so they replaced it and didn't charge us for the food. The place is biker and dog friendly and the bar is absolutely ancient. Definitely worth a visit. There were a couple classic cars parked there today, such a treat.

Oldest pub in England with dated proff. Lovely staff, food was excellent, and every bit of the pub looked like a museum! We loved it, there a public footpath nearby for a walk (30mins or 2h - full of birds and wildlife). We also learnt a lot from the lovely staff member available. Tried a new Scottish side dish and a fine ale! We'll be coming back for sure!

I love this historic pub! Narrow corridors lead you into rooms with irregular walls and old painted windows. The food is very good, a little but expensive but the location is unmissable!I will go back for sure.

An amazing pub experience! Spectacular service and the most delicious pies I have ever had! I recommend the beef pie with marrowbone and ale. Great selection of beer and wine as well.

Fantastic ambience, great history and character, prompt service but below average food and drinksWent for a Sunday roast with the family. The lamb roast was very average, not worth the £19 they charge for it. The lamb was chewy and underwhelming. Was looking forward to sampling their ales. Tried out all their ales amongst us, which again were quite watered down and again disappointed. The best dish was undoubtedly the fish and chips, which were fresh and crisp to perfection. Service was very attentive and prompt.Would highly recommend this place for its ambience and character. Stick to the lagers and fish n chips and you'll come out quite satisfied
