The Oriental in Crawley

Excellent food, just hard to get a delivery when they are busy, that just goes to show how good it is!

So happy we found this place after moving to Crawley. Always delicious and so fresh, never been disappointed. Always too keen to eat to take photos so just trust me.

I placed an order at 17:01 and was given an eta of 18:43, after 37 attempts I got through to the restaurant to chase my order (19:10) and was told it would be a further ten minutes. Finally delivered at 19:30 but I'm afraid I will take my custom elsewhere as in my opinion despite the food being good the service is not up to what is being advertised and they might need to rethink the delivery strategy.

I ordered from the oriental this evening via the app. When ordering on the app at 5pm it said the food would arrive by 6pm. Once our order had been placed we then received an email saying it would arrive at 6:45. Nothing arrived at 6:45 so we tried calling over 50 times and the line was 'busy' the entire time. We have a toddler and were at my in laws house and needed to leave soon after eating so we were eager to get our food.(Especially when we thought it was originally arriving at 6pm). Eventually at 7:20 we decided to drive to the shop as we couldn't get hold of anyone to see how much longer it would be. We were told the food should be at our doorstep in 5 mins and sorry but they had been busy. When we got back the food had just arrived but it wasn't up to the usual standards. Soggy rice, undercooked noodles and rubbish service. It strikes me as being greedy that they take on too many orders but then aren't able go provide a good service. It felt like the food had been cooked in a hurry in big batches. We don't be going back in a rush.

Possibly the worst experience I've ever had with any restaurant delivery, placed an order at 17:10pm and had an estimated delivery at 18:41pm, I've tried calling 100+ times and still no answer now its 30 mins after the estimated delivery time and still nothing!!!! Once this turns up (if it does) I'm taking my customs elsewhere as this is shocking customer service!!!!

If you want amazing food, look no further. This is by far the best takeaway in Sussex and at a great price too. Food arrived before estimated time, and was still really hot. Lucy is a great help and very Friendly. I can't recommend The oriental enough. Highly recommended.

Have been using this place for 10-15 years and have never had a bad experience! The place is always packed which tells its own story. We have now moved out of Crawley but still make the trip back as nothing near us comes close.

We had mixed hors d'oeuvres, crispy chilli beef, 2 veg dishes, pork Szechuan and egg fried rice - all absolutely delicious!

Absolutely love this chinese takeaway! It's always tasty. Never greasy and great portions. Delivery is always on time. When it's busy it can take a while but it's 100% worth the wait! I've lost count how many times we've had a takeaway from here in the last year. Highly recommended and will order again. Thank you to Lucy and her family for a fantastic meal as always x

One of my favourite takeouts in Crawley, consistently good every time. There is parking outside where you can wait in the car and they will deliver it to you.
