Today’s special. The best chowder I’ve ever eaten. It has the intriguingly paradoxical quality of being refreshingly creamy! The fish chunks has the texture of a scallop!Main: veggie getting all the favour of salmon, perfectly cooked.A lemon tart, a large tea & stared at the port of Dover.

Thank you doesn’t seem adequate to do justice to The Dover Patrol Restaurant team for the fantastic all round experience provided to us on Wednesday 15th September for our wedding breakfast. Our booking was made with ease, a very reasonably priced menu was effortlessly agreed, I handed over a table layout and the table was set up with care ready for us when we arrived, including unexpected but very useful guest name cards also saying what people had ordered. Additionally they set aside a large table, decorated with a beautiful flower arrangement, for our cake/gifts etc. I must mention the amazing view from this place, especially from the veranda. You can see the castle right round to the western fort, and as far as France if the weather is good. The service during our meal was excellent, polite, discreet and efficient and the food? The food… words cannot do it justice. The food was truly outstanding. Our starters were a choice of: mackerel pate/garlic mushrooms/prawn cocktail, mains were a choice of: fish & chips/chicken supreme/butternut squash risotto & wedding cake for dessert (provided by us), teas and coffees were included.I had the prawn cocktail and fish & chips. The prawn cocktail didn’t look very big but looks can be deceptive! Masses of fat prawns in a flavourful slightly sweet freshly made sauce on fresh malted bread with a small salad. The fish and chips, the fish was outstandingly fresh, light, delicate, flaked at the slightest touch and wasn’t greasy, the batter was also light and thin. The chips were clearly homemade and perfectly cooked. I didn’t taste the other dishes but they looked equally delicious and I am assured they were.If you’re looking for delicious food, great service, a view to die for and a clean venue look no further, try this excellent restaurant out today.

On a day trip from London to hike white Cliffs of Dover. After a quick search we've chosen this place for our late lunch. We didn't have a booking but were given a lovely table with a view of a harbour. It was a bit too windy for al fresco dining which was also available. Before sitting down for our meal inside, we've had a cheeky pint of Whitstable brew in a pop up bar outside the restaurant. The barman was very nice and chatty, making everybody welcomed and comfortable. The staff in the restaurant was also very friendly, accommodating and efficient. We chose oysters, squid, crab salad and fish and chips. While fish and chips were one of the best I've ever had the starters were only ok.Squid was definitely overcooked and had way too much coating for my liking. Crab salad, decent size and nicely presented but bland and with too little 'green' to really call it a salad.Oysters were fresh and very tasty but had not been opened properly, with lots of chiped shells in the meat. All in all very pleasnt meal as the amazing fish and chips compensated for slight let down of the starters. To sum up, I would definitely recommend the place: very friendly staff, fresh produce and reasonable prices makes it perfect for unplanned lunch.

Bank Holiday weekend quick lunch. We didn't have a reservation and we got a table for 2.Friendly service with great food. The smoked haddock was great and does not have the overwhelming smokiness. The mash mixed with the haddock blended very well.Hake was very fresh and very lovely. The sauce blended very nicely with the new potatoes. The only negative was the vegetables on the side which was a mix of vegetables. Some are over boiled, the charred vegetables were not charred enough. If your main objective is seafood, you'll love this place.

Really great service, great food. Best view of the cliffs, castle, dock, ships entering and exiting. Also, the outdoor seating area has shelter so can eat even when raining

I visited this beautiful restaurant back in Oct 2019. It was just after a solo trip to Dover Castle, after a long but beautiful day. I was so amazed by the Dover Castle, and from the top of the hill I could see the beautiful sea front, that is when I decided to take a walk around the beach after I was done with the castle. It was a lovely afternoon leading to a lovely evening, as I was strolling around the beach and went to the far end of the pier. I was already quite hungry so I was looking for a nice place to eat and thanks to the Dover Patrol Restaurant I didn't have to look far. The restaurant is located right adjacent to the pier just by the sea, offering a spectacular view through the glass windows. I took a seat just by the window, and it was calm and quiet inside when I got there, with only an elderly couple enjoying their food. The Dover Patrol Restaurant was very tastefully decorated I remember. It had a great ambience, beautiful lighting hanging from the top, and the sea side of the restaurant was entirely glass walled, offering a majestic view of the sea round the clock. For me it was like a perfect ending of an otherwise overwhelming day. I ordered fish and chips with a starter and a side. The waiters were really well behaved I remember, and they were quick to serve the food. The food itself was delicious, and very good value for money as it was reasonably priced. I really enjoyed my meal accompanied by a great view of the sea with the setting sun welcoming the night. I went out with deep sense of satisfaction and a smile on my face, and the restaurant staff didn't forget to smile back. I'll remember this place for a long time, and wish to visit it if I ever visit beautiful Dover again.
