Where is The Royal Oak?

🏠 36 Lower Rd, Dover CT17 0QU

"The Royal Oak is a charming 19th century pub in the village of River near Dover in Kent. Formed from 18th century flint cottages we have been serving the village for over 150 years. A friendly warm welcome compliments our range of real ales, lagers, ciders and stout. From a morning coffee or hot chocolate to a late night spirit we will look after you. Come read the papers, enjoy a cool beer on a sunny afternoon in the garden or a warming cask ale in front of the fire on a winter's night."

Stayed there for one night. The Bedrooms were nice and cozy and very clean. Also included ab english breakfast which was very tasty. All staff members were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food, friendly staff, great place for a lunch after a Walk through Kearsney Abbey.

·

Decent food, but let down by a long wait for it to arrive. Friendly enough service though.

Me and my work mates stayed here from a Mon to Fri, working in the area. The rooms were spotless, warm & comfortable. They made us breakfast bags every morning which were superb. The staff were extremely hospitable. Off road parking, which is always a bonus with work vans. Good bar, good food.

Lovely stay. Stayed twice now. Staff lovely. Couple of little issues but all sorted by staff. Great rooms although no TV in.

·

Friendly staff, good pub grub menu and a couple of decent guest ales alongside the usual array of lagers etc.

·

Lovely little pub .Friendly staff . Lovely atmosphere. Great breakfast.

Lovely pub and staff but the food let it down. We had a Sunday roast which was disappointing, measly amount of meat and veg and the roast potatoes had been reheated and not nice. Please take note and cook from fresh !!!

Booked a table. Refused the main menu items even though the 'Owner' gave me the menus after digging them out the draw for me. The menus state serve food between 12-5 on them even online it states full menu between 12-5 on a Sunday, Disappointed as reviews all seemed great!! Shame as we like to support local businesses as much as possible. We was going to order Ribs and some sides alongside a few more drinks. Shame we went elsewhere. In my eyes that £60/70 lost...... Maybe we will try again in the future.
