We came as a large party with children. The pub was understaffed with the one barman also bringing food to tables. Only after taking our order did the chef/owner tell us that the food would take half an hour to get all the food out - it actually took an hour and a half, with orders coming out wrong, by with stage everyone was very tired and irritable. Some of the fish and chips were completely different than the others - some came with baked beans others with peas. Some with French fries others with fat chips. It looked like the chef had popped out half way through the order to stock up from a local supermarket rather than telling us at the start certain dishes had run out.

We popped in here for a late lunch after a walk and glad we did. It's a really welcoming pub, cosy inside, a huge garden with lots of benches and great food. We will definitely return when back in the area.

Great grass pitch next to the lake. Food available Friday to Sunday. Village shop opposite open six days a week. Great walking directly from site, great beer. No charge but eating expected when available. Water and toilets available by arrangement.

We came as a party of 10 for an impromptu late Saturday lunch. The pub was quite quiet and could accommodate a nice table for us all. We were very warmly welcomed. The decor was cute and interesting. The drinks selection was good. The menu was well priced and had both pub classics and some interesting variety. Food was not the swiftest to arrive, due to it being cooked fresh and our large party. Staff were very keen to update us on the progress of the food, which was appreciated. Everything that came out was delicious - definitely worth waiting for it to be cooked properly rather than reliance on microwaves etc.

Visited to attend a friend,s birthday so suprised to find a packed pub in a remote location outside of Borden . Live music and burger stand added to an already buzzing atmosphere ..Nice to see families and locals using this little treasure. Management must be doing something right - would be interesting to see how their food is - next time if I,m in the area..

Booked table at 2pm. Left at 3.20pm as food was still not being served for another 30mins. Very poor. No apologies no offer of a drink whilst waiting. Won't be going back.

Wonderful food and service! Visited today with family for my sister's birthday, there was 9 of us and we all loved the food, lovely starters, fabulous roasts and burgers, very accommodating with my request of a meat free roast as I didn't fancy the vegetarian option. Also very accommodating in bringing out the birthday cake with candles lit that I had smuggled in! Friendly and helpful staff, friendly locals a great atmosphere and all in a character filled building. Would definitely recommend and I hope to visit again. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 many thanks!!

The staff here were able to fit us in the other week despite it being a busy Sunday! (turns our we weren't asking for much - 4 burgers!!). When we ordered our burger we all had specific requirements- ie no salad, or bacon- these requests were catered to perfectly and all came out as required. the decor is tastefully done and suits a pub of this style, as well has having a log burner surrounded by sofas if you want a chilled weekend drink. The great think about this pub is that its owned/run by locals in the village therefore supporting this pub is also keeping one more traditional free house still in business.I would thoroughly recommend visiting if you are passing by.

Second time I’ve been in as many weeks for something to eat. Busy pub with lots of atmosphere, friendly staff and locals. Dogs, sofas and an open fire. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced but it did take quite a long time to be served.I’ll definitely return for dinner and it would be great if the chef could speed up the service without dropping the flavour.
