The Lantern Room in East Hampshire

Last evening in Scotland, and we were exhausted! We were looking for something simple, easy, and tasty! The Lantern Room fit the bill, and we were happy with the pizza.

Poor afternoon tea. No scones, one sandwich cut in half rather than a selection of different sandwiches. Cakes were rock hard. Not worth the money

The burgers are fantastic and good portions. The staff we met were really friendly and had a good selection of drinks.

Had dinner and breakfast here. Good food both times and an enjoyable experience

We had a lovely pre theatre meal here. Food was good and the staff helpful and polite.Would recommend here.

Would recommend for dinner. Service was quick. Very friendly waiter. Food was good too: decent Greek salad and cheeseburger.

Terrible food. Never ever have i had such a terrible burger, fries and food experience. Burger was overcooked, burnt, no taste at all, found a piece of bone in it. Ordered skin on fries got normal ones, half of them were refried at least a few times. Wouldn’t set my foot in that place again!

This review is for the breakfast and it is during covid-era so maybe this isn’t their norm. But the food was just ok. Breakfast booked with the hotel. It’s half a buffet with little bits and bobs like croissants, toast, cappuccino machine, etc... and the plate was brought to us after we ordered from a list of typical full English breakfast items (the only things you can order) Nothing is wrong with it, except the potato scones which are kind of stale tasting and soaked through with oil. As I cut them, oil kind of oozes out. But the croissants are good, the sausage is yummy. And the service, though limited, was courteous and helpful.

Turned up later on in the evening, but still within hours to order food. No warm welcome... we had to go to the main desk. The manager on duty (by the looks of things) told us we couldnt sit outside, sat us down quite rudely and told us to hurry up as the kitchen was closing. Ordered 2 club haigman with ice and 2 calamari. Whisky came without ice and only received 1 calmari... for £5 there was 4 tiny pieces of squid served in a small bowl with some leaves. Nice squid to be fair, but not a good deal. The indoor venue was strange, almost like hanging around at a wedding reception. In their credit, there seems to be some pleasant staff working there as well, who were attentive to us.

Delicious moules frites!! Was very impressed by the food and such quick service. Highly recommend coming here! Will return soon.
