We had decided to try patisserie Valerie in Eastbourne this afternoon, and have to say the staff were very helpful and friendly, the coffee was great, I had ordered a scone with jam and cream, thought I’d treat myself but was extremely disappointed with the scone, what can I say, it was stale, flat and had been heated up, in the microwave and came to me very hot so I had to wait for it to cool before I could put anything on it . So we made a complaint to the manager, only to be told he had mentioned it to the company as he must have has previous problems before ,but was told ,they were sticking with the same people who made them, and to keep putting them in the microwave, 😱 ironically when we were making the complaint ,another lady came up with what looked like two scones, and was also making her thoughts know about them.Patisserie Valerie, needs to listen to its Manager, and it’s customers, otherwise people won’t be frequenting it anymore and sadly it will be leaving the high street permanently .

What on earth has happened. The portion size is a joke, in fact I laughed when the food came. The French frys were the size of a fifty pence in a wire basket and cold, price £3.95. I also had a toasted goats cheese sandwich with cheese on top at £9.95. Very small size. And that was cold also. Left and went and had some chips. Just don't other bill for me and guest £30.00.

Friendly service - 1st time at this branch, but we have visited another branch in our home county. I ordered the eggs benedicit. It was delicious. Lovely bacon and poached eggs. Husband had the smoked salmon salad. We also had a decaf eppresso and oat milk hot chocolate. My hot chocolate was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble at all. A lovely little find in the high street. Our waitress was friendly, service with a smile..

So I used to love their smoked salmon scrambled eggs. On the right is a picture of a few years ago when I got them vs what I was served today. The right cost me £8 the left cost me £10.95! The bread wasn’t toasted or buttered and not white like I asked. The scrambled eggs looked dry and were cold and sparse and I couldn’t believe how little salmon they gave me! The picture doesn’t do it justice it’s was tiny! Definitely never going there again. Oh and the wait was about 40 mins yet the place was empty

They just don't care. Staff meander around with a bored/glazed expression on their faces. Twice I have popped in for soup at lunchtime....the menu states soup is served with 'crusty bloomer bread'....it isn't. It's served with cheap sliced brown bread which comes toasted because it was stale to start with. When I came to pay after the second time I was asked if everything was ok with my order, so I said (politely) that the soup never seemed to come with the crusty bloomer bread advertised. She just said 'Oh' and that was that. Zero atmosphere too.

We had an Afternoon tea under the Buyagift scheme and cannot recommend it.The man serving at the counter was very hard working and customer friendly, but service was really slow. The tea arriving well ahead of the food and subsequently only Luke war as we began eating.I asked the girl serving if we could have the Ham sandwich without Mustard and was disappointed when it arrived with Mustard freshly spread on the very thin Ham.Quality of the food in general was disappointing, the Chicken sandwich was bland and the Cakes were mediocre. The Restaurant was dirty in places and we had to clean the table before we sat down.

Me and my significant other were visiting the town after a long hike on the seven sisters cliff. Our attention was grabbed when we walked by the shop with the very well-displayed cakes in the window and we decided to stop for some coffee and a couple of red velvets. The coffee was good but although the cakes looked so fresh in the display it was far from fresh.

Nice atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff, nice place to eat, we had a good time- update from my review 6 months ago - it seems that they have updated their menu to include more vegan foods which are delicious, and the staff at this restaurant in particular are very friendly, kind and generous! 5 star service, thank you
