Shades Restaurant in Eastbourne

Shades is a good meal restaurant, always plenty of good food on your plate for a reasonable price. Seating the restaurant and outside but still inside the Beacon centre. We like it there, it is a good place for a lunch get together.

We asked for a pot of tea for 2 and a spare cup for my 4 year old grandson and were treated with contempt and reluctance. Thought this was supposed to be a family friendly cafe. Not in our experience

I am absolutely appalled with the service I have recieved today. I asked for a jacket potato with tuna mayo and sweetcorn and they gave me tuna and cheese instead. They literally slapped the tuna out the can and slapped it on the plate. Not fresh at all the food.So I said to the lady at the front of house where you pay, and she gave me the filthiest look, like I had done something wrong. The prices are disgusting! I had to pay extra for a drop of mayo which is ridiculous. The food was cooked in the microwave and was served cold. The staff are so moody and look like they don't want to be there, no smiling just pure misery. I will never be returning. The manager was giving me a filthy look. I don't know how this place is still open.

Female staff are extremely rude, to focused on gossip, unsettling and unprofessional; a little advise to them get a life. The manager seemed to stuck in fantasy world to put together a cohesive sentence. The only nice employee there was the male employee at the till.

The service was pleasant and helpful. We only had drinks. We are fuss pots , but they made them exactly as we like 👍👍

My review is not concerning the food which is always good. I'm afraid I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by a member of staff who asked if I could share my table with 2 strangers. In normal circumstances I would not of had a problem, but with the current Covid situation, I have to be super careful. I am over 60, I work in a hospital and I care for my elderly mother. She looked at me as if I was a complete pain and started to justify why I should share.my table, which made me so embarrassed in front of the customers concerned. I did explain nicely that I had to be extremely careful, but I was so embarrassed, it ruined my lunch. I didn't feel I should have been treated in that that way.

Been into Shades several times but the staff are so miserable. Not one smile or thank you amongst them. I returned in the hope they were having a bad day but no, no improvement. Such a shame as used to enjoy a cuppa when out on a shopping trip. Come on guys improve please.

Burnt coffee, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, not the first time been here a few times and doesn't get better

Had a sandwich and orange juice. Nothing special just ok, good staff and location though.
