Please read this important note:You will see a few nasty reviews on here talking about rude staff. Anyone with the slightest of grey matter and experience in the culinary industry can tell that these reviews are simply made by unagreeable, entitled snobs (sad to see on my visit) clearly London toffs - who cannot handle any clapback from professional service. On that sidenoteHere is my good reviewProper coastal fish and chips with skin left on. Crispy. The blonde beer is some of the nicest I have ever had. I came to Eastbourne from Manchester to try some real fish and chips from the South and I am impressed. Good fish and chips up north is harder to find than it used to be. So this is refreshing. Very tasty after a 5 hour journey.Price is good for getting the gold standard. This is what traditional fish and chips is meant to be like.

visited on Visited here here with my partner and her sister and we fancied fish & chips as we were by the seaside! Very glad we picked this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and we had a very friendly and attentive waitress. Clean and quick service. All food was very fresh, not greasy and very good portions and great value. Lost a star unfortunately due to lack of availability of soft drinks and juices and 7up wasn't fizzy. I will be returning to eat here on my next trip back to Eastbourne 🙂Edit- Visit was in September 2021- photos recently added which changed the date! On day of visit staff informed me they didn't have a full selection of soft drinks. 7up was flat.

Food was poor, waitress (and owner) was extremely rude and incredibly bad customer service. PLEASE AVOID.We are two families, we were rushed in and told we had to sit over two tables and couldn't have one for us all. We had been in at lunchtime but told we could not book for the evening. We asked if we could split the bill between our families but told we could not do this as we were on two separate tables (not our choice). The waitress (and owner) ridiculed my 4 year old son's drink choice in front of him and the whole table (Orange and blackcurrant squash mixed with water). We asked if they could put the cheese on the side of my son's burger, the waitress (and owner) questioned us and asked us why. Eventually she agreed this could be done. When the burger arrived the cheese was inside and the waitress told us "the cooks couldn't leave the cheese out". No apology and a son who refused to eat his meal.Chips and fish were poor quality. When we finished our meal we waited 25 minutes for anyone to clear our dirty plates. The couple next to us, who arrived after us, had their food, plates cleared and paid their bill 20 minutes before someone came to clear our plates. If you want average fish and chips and a rude waitress, please come here!We will not be returning and will be telling our friends and family about our incredibly disappointing experience here. You can see from the reply below, and other 1 star reviews, how rude, unsympathetic and unfriendly the owner really is. It is a shame that after 30 years in the restaurant business someone can care so little about their customers.I am saddened to see the owner of this family owned business responding to my experience at their restaurant by attacking me and my family, accusing me of lying and not able to offer a simple apology. This truly is an example of incredibly bad customer service.

Always great service and the best chips in Eastbourne!Update:Today we thought we would try Qualisea for lunch and dine in.My wife had 'cheesy' chips and onion rings and I had the Naked 'Cheeseburger' and chips (plus a couple of my wife's onion rings). It is great to have more vegan options wherever we go and the choice at Qualisea was a good starting point. The Naked burger is seemingly a Naked Glory burger and it was great. Chips were good but it was the onion rings that were the star of the show.Highchairs are available and there is one large toilet.Service was friendly and informative but a bit slower than expected.Overall, another good option for lunch. I would love to see the introduction of banana blossom and battered vegan sausages.

We were in Eastbourne for the day and by chance went to have lunch here. It turned out to be a wonderful choice. The fish was so fresh and beautifully cooked. The staff were so friendly. I would reccomend it and just a pity I live so far away!

My wife and I had just done a long coastal walk and needed some delicious fish and chips to refuel...these folks didn't disappoint. I had huss for the first time and it was incredible. Our server Natalie was so friendly and kind, we were gutted we couldn't leave a tip on card for her as we had no cash. See you again soon

Absolutely cannot fault this plaice (see what I did there? Sorry)Been here quite a few times now and every time the fish is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. Not an upscale place (sorry again, can't help myself!) But this is definitely one of the better fish shops in the south of England.

Fish and chips are nice and taste fresh, the food is very good. The disappointing part are their staff, they are quite rude to us. My partner order fish and chips with one sausage and I said make it two for me and she interfere us saying so are you just going to share one meal? In a rude way, she assume that we are going to share that one meal because I just said make the sausage two which we are not because she didn’t ask my order yet. And what would be the problem if we share that one meal?! This kind of attitude can lost appetite.
