Davids Fish Bar in Eastleigh

Really disappointed with this local fish and chip shop. Don't really mind that the lady got my order wrong, these things happen but the "large cod" was not even approaching that classification. Not only was it small but it was greasy and overdone, or the oil was too old. My partner took the greasy batter off of her fish, so she didn't have to consume the greasy, burnt shell and very little remained. Sad to say I won't be returning unless these issues are sorted.

Ok cannot say about fish since I don't eat much but the burgers, chicken, battered chocolate and battered pineapple are the best thing ever. Definitely go for it. Also give the curly fries a try they're very nice, especially lunchtime if you're worried about old chips.

Asked to wear a mask as soon as I arrived even though they have plastic screens up. It's not a legal requirement anymore. I was told to wait outside. I turned around and went elsewhere. Young chap had a proper bad attitude and sarcastically told me on the way out to 'have a good night' This place will start clocking up a lot of bad reviews if they carry on like this. I see the last review was similar. POOR SERVICE. Cant comment on the food. We didn't get that far...

We probably average a chippy once a month and have found this to be the best in the area. Great food, generous portions and lovely staff

Not great- not sure where these 5 star reviews are coming from- given this place 2 goes and both times pretty bad.This time forgot to pack the mush peas and curry sauce which i had paid for. Chips REALLY greasy and stale. Fish ok… I think- tasted like a fish… expected better given the reviews!Commendable that they still ask for masks- the 3 identical signs within a 1m space is probably a bit excessive. Pretty sensible policy though… shame about the food!A bit disappointing

Substandard food and awful customer serviceA quick visit as we drove through Chandlers ford seemed like a good idea and a quick fix to hunger.How wrong could we be...LET'S START WITH THE FOODIt was shocking, We had a sausage in batter, the batter had no taste other than the fat that was oozing out of it. The batter just seemed to be flat and possibly even old. The sausage, however, was nice with plenty of flavours.Pea Fritter - well I have never seen soft batter, my other half has never had one and unfortunately, she had to experience this as her first pea fritter. it was awful, I think it must have been on warmer for at least a few hours to be this dry and batter so soft and rubbery.Chips (With salt and vinegar please) well there was no salt or vinegar on them but that would have been a waste of salt and vinegar anyway. the chips were horrible. Fatty and disgusting, even the birds won't touch them. they all went in the bin.My personal opinion is that the fat in the fryers needs to be changed and possibly even the temperature adjusted to create a light and fluffy batter rather than a fat absorbed batter that has no flavour and consistency of a doughy bread that hasn't been cooked properlyCUSTOMER SERVICEOn approaching I didn't get a hello sir or even a Hi, I got greeted with, Can you put a face mask on, please? Well, my answer was that I am exempt (Which I am) Well that comment got returned with a face of thunder and a complete look of disgust. (I could go into a rant here but I won't). In short, the person took my order and asked me if I could wait outside. No worries obviously, it is only a small place so more than happy to do that. This I thought was going to be the end of the poor customer service. oh no, that was just the beginning.The food was brought out to me and with a comment of "DONT FORGET YOUR MASK NEXT TIME" oh my god, how unprofessional and Illegal do you want to be. (Trying not to rant here but I feel I need to). I get there is still a pandemic going on, I get you are trying to be safe, I get that you're trying to protect your staff. However, KNOW THE LAW. It's discriminative to ask someone why they are exempt or even to prove it. it's discriminative to look at someone like they are any different to others when they tell you they are exempt.All in all,POOR CUSTOMER SERVICESHOCKING FOODDon't let the pictures on their google post fool you, their food looks nothing like it.

The good reviews led me to this place. I was visiting the area from out of town so reviews was all I could go by.Sorry to say that the fish and chips I was served was nothing like the standard others here seem to be reviewing.OK it is a Monday so not a popular day but any of my regular chips shops would still serve far batter food.Because I was an outsider and not a regular I drew the short straw. I suspect the others waiting there were going to get the fresh food. I think that we got the scrapings from the bottom of the hopper. Chips were awful, fish batter was horrible and fish tasteless. We threw most of the food away! I can't imagine any good food coming out of that oil today.

Fantastic service, I am a wheelchair user and this was the only place open with decent reviews and vegetarian options, that were actually available.Spoke to them on the phone, there was no wheelchair access, but they could not have been more helpful, they took the order over the phone, and offered to come out to the van when I arrived.I got there about 20 minutes layer, rang them to let them know I was there, despite the queue of customers, true to their word, they bought my order out to the van, took payment and I was on my home in just a minute or two.The food was very nice, chips were not hard or overdone, pea fritters a good size, not too big, partner enjoyed his battered sausage and I was pleasantly surprised to find cooked onion in my veggie burger, and the garlic mushrooms, were lovely.Very impressed by the staff and the service.

By far the worst fish and chips we have ever had. Stopped on our way home looking for something to eat and Google reviews were good for this place but not so for usBatter on fish was tasteless and like a wet pancake, the fish was tasteless. Oil used to fry both chips and fish tasted like rancid butter. The chips were like pieces of fried wood shavings!!!🤬Lucky I've even given one star

Portion sizes are always on the good to too much size being one of 2 ctradutional Chip Shops in Chandlers Ford.Normally the food is cooked fresh but the fish is not always drained of oil.Would have scored a 4 if I had not heard " Dave, there's a customer moaning" when I came back with my pea fritter and fish. A poor way to deal with customer service.At least it got replaced but as you can see too much food left over.
