River Rat Cellar & Kitchen in Eastleigh

Excellent evening dinner at a leisurely pace. Food was really good and staff friendly and unobtrusively attentive.

Saturday night, pretty poor food quality (flavourless), I don’t get how other reviews are so good. And service while intended well just was average (due to lack of experience), forgetting to bring a spoon, forgetting to bring bill and during the meal door was left open in winter making the room drafty.

A really great place to eat!Friendly and welcoming - from owners to waiting staff - it is just lovely.Did I mention the food? Wow!The changing menus have an array of dishes - so something to suit all - even a children's menu!Thank you River Rat (again!)

Good and friendly service, food well prepared and tasty. The venue itself is very pleasant. Only complaint was a bit stingy on the beef in my Sunday roast... 1&1/2 slices of beef seemed insufficient.

Absolutely fabulous Sunday roast today!! me and my friends had the chicken, beef and lamb all of which were incredible, not to mention the ginormous Yorkshire pudding and crispy roast potatoes. Would 10/10 recommend if your looking for a lovely independent local restaurant to support 😊

Wow! The garden area is the most amazing place to eat - spectacular. There's only a small selection on the menu, but it's all fantastic - the steak was sublime. Slight negative with young staff still learning their trade, but not enough to lose a star. Great place for a romantic meal or treat for a special occasion.

The River Rat is a lovely restaurant in Hamble le Rice with an interesting garden for dining. It already has good reviews which were well deserved. Good menu with vegetarian options. Staff were particularly good, friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

I couldn't wait to try this restaurant which is 5 weeks into new management. It was a beautiful sunny evening in Hamble so headed to the garden to eat. WOW what a lovely surprise, it was beautiful, several different eating areas with twinkly lights and great planting. So on to the food. I had stuffed courgette, pine nuts, goats cheese, with roasted new potatoes and green leaf salad with passatta, my friend had sea bream fish cakes and we both cleared our plates. Rhubard crumb and brownies to follow which was really good. The hosts were really friendly and service was really good. I will definitely be back in this restaurant/bar in the next week or two.
