Smart village pub and restaurant with British and French cuisine, plus real ales and outside tables.

Staff could pay a bit more attention and act as if they did actually care. Nice place to have a quick drink but nothing more.

Another Claygate lunch haunt! Today they brought the starter with the main, but it was ok. It was eaten! The chocolate truffle dessert is lush... not so keen on the ice cream!

I’ve always enjoyed meals at The Hare and Hounds and have visited many times over the years. The food was again good this evening. However, the ambiance was totally spoilt by groups of noisy and uncontrolled children who were playing in the restaurant area whilst their parents relaxed in the pub and did nothing to stop them. One swung off a chair and had to be told off by an elderly man. I love children but want to enjoy a relaxing meal on a Friday evening!

Had various family big group meals in The Hare and Hounds for birthdays ect. Usually around 20 people so arrange the function room. They handle that well and the food is nice. Nice gardens for summer, friendly and professional staff! 👌

What an amazing old country pub. Roaring open fire place. Brought back memories of the old country pubs in the Cotswolds during my childhood. Excellent food menu. Reasonable priced. It was like stepping back in time. Now I will call it my local.

Lovely pub, superb food, great young landlords and French wife (?), with son Rory helping out with menus, feeding the fire etc. I've only ever been when the u3a holds its monthly lectures in the village hall across the road. It's tgen filled with twinkly oldies with dinner frames all chowing down before the talk. Bees great, COFFE too. I'd love to try it on a winter's evening with eh fires roaring mad maybe the local sports team having a singing or the church choir after practice, tgeres no piano I saw, but we can do aCapella. Good place for a lock in!

Went on a Sunday, sat outside in their large beer garden. Veggie roast and the chicken roast just what you need from a village pub, good pub food at a reasonable price. Friendly service, dog and child friendly. Really worth going.

We had a really lovely experience here after some very hit and misses (more commonly misses) in the surrounding area while staying here for a week. The lady that served us was French and brought with her that air of hospitality as a career rather than a job that continental Europeans have that makes for really nice service. Efficient, polite and warm but unobtrusive. We hadn’t booked but were seated easily although it was a fairly busy Thursday night. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating available and a kids play park. I was so so happy to see the menu. A few carefully curated items rather than a huge menu (which I always avoid where possible as you just know it’s either done badly or isn’t fresh). I was surprised to notice that despite the appealing choices on the menu, literally everyone around us seemed to be eating burgers or fish and chips! Each to their own I suppose but I had the confit duck, my husband the lamb cutlets and his father the mussels. We all thought our food was incredibly tasty and were so happy we went on and had puddings which were also yummy. We would definitely be regulars if we lived in the area highly recommend!

Place is ok, nothing more than than. My chicken burger was burn. Vegan burger had too much spices. When we asked for drink menu, they said that they don't have it and if we say what we want, they gona told us if it is served. Staff is nice.
