The Plough Inn in Elmbridge

The sharer platter roast was incredible! Once my daughter has teeth, she will certainly be back for her own dish!

We didn't even know about it but a real gem hidden on the outskirt of Cobham!The pub is absolutely recommended!We went there on a Tuesday evening and it was gorgeous. We were looking for a warm place, quiet and with good food and we found just that. The steak was fantastic, cooked to perfection (or at least it was for me). The staff was lovely(from the moment i called to check if they had a table to arrival and service) and it just felt like this place should be our regular pub for casual dinner with family, friends or just for date night. We are about 15min drive away but I will happily do the drive just for such a nice steak. It wasn't what I would call cheap but for the quality of the wine, the food, the staff and the atmosphere, I will say it's actually really well priced. If the management sees my review, please don't change anything as it was really great!

Not good value for money! Order a £26 rump steak to be told 10 mins later that they had no rump (despite being advertised as a steak restaurant!); so had to pay £10 more for a £36 fillet steak the width of a tennis ball, plus £5 extra for a small bowl of chips. Staff were friendly and helpful when I asked to change my steak because it was very fatty. Finally, the fillet steak was delicious, despite being so small. I am OK with paying £50-60 per head, but do expect bigger portions.

The Plough Inn is a hidden gem. Worth a visit if you’re ever in Cobham. I’ve been a few times and sat both outside on the lovely patio and inside on a nice booth table. Food and drinks are always lovely. I will agree with others on the pricing being fairly high, especially for the larger cuts of steak. Was a bit disappointed by the size of the 700g T-bone. Have had one many times elsewhere and has had much more meat on. Nonetheless, was cooked well and the peppercorn sauce and sticky toffee pudding are some of the best I’ve had!

Below average food, lousy service and ridiculously expensive for no obvious reason!I ordered the T-bone and it come totally cold. The taste wasn’t horrible but very average at best. Same with other steaks. The tiger prawn starter didn’t taste good and wasn’t fresh at all and only 3 of them in a £15 dish.As for the service, very slow and staff not very keen to accelerate the service. We had to ask twice and wait over 5 minutes for some ketchup, as an example.Two in our party ordered the same steak, one medium rare and the other medium well. When they were served, guests asked the waitress which is which. She said she’s not sure but pointed to one of the steaks and said this is “probably” the medium well; it turned out she was wrong. So they both had to eat a steak that wasn’t cooked the way they like.We were there for my wife’s birthday and upon booking the place, I wrote a note and mentioned this and asked for a simple surprise. The sort you see all the time in any restaurant, maybe a muffin and candle and a Happy Birthday song, right? There was no sign of anything to show at least they’ve acknowledged my request.And it all was very expensive. Of course I knew that before booking and I’m ok with that, but you expect to receive some sort of value for what you pay. Either very good quality food or pleasant service; we received neither!Definitely not recommend this place. More expensive than 99% of all central London restaurants, while the quality is nowhere near as good.

We spent the day at Painshill park and found this place to eat. The service was amazing since I called to book the table until I got my bill. The staff is very friendly and the food was amazing, I think is the best Sunday roast I ever had.. the place has a great vibe too

We had a great time over a leisurely couple of hours at The Plough Inn at the weekend.Superb service and great Sunday lunch, all washed down with a bottle of the Saurus Select Malbec. Also very accommodating for dogs :).We will be back – was excellent!

My partner and I recently had dinner here, it’s set in a lovely location and the premises itself has a lot of charm, it’s basically an old pub that’s been thoughtfully renovated.We chose to skip having a starter, mainly because none of them appealed - that’s not to knock it, just wasn’t to our taste although slightly tempted by the Oyster Mushroom but wanted the mushroom side so no point in doubling up!We both ordered Fillet, one with Roasted Garlic Butter Medium-Rare, the other Medium with Bearnaise sauce. We didn’t realise straight away but the kitchen had got them mixed up. We didn’t say anything as it was clearly a busy night for staff, and we were hungry by this point.The steak itself was very nice, as we now go out for fillet at least once a month we’ve decided to rate the Fillet separately each time. On this occasion we both agreed on 8/10, which is pretty high.Overall the food was nice, I had the fat chips with my dinner which were ever-so-slightly undercooked. The mushrooms were very nice, perfectly cooked.We each had a cocktail, of which my drink came smoked which is a great experience at the table, it definitely add’s something.I would recommend The Plough Inn, however we did feel it’s a little on the expensive side when we compare it to other Steak restaurants we visit.

Went with some friends last night for drinks and dinner and £250 per couple. The setting itself is good and the service great but blimey it's crazy pricey. The menu is v limited so steak was the only real option as a main and that's the problem as they are overpriced. It was very good steak though, so can't knock that. Shame, as none of us will be going back for dinner because of this.

Recently visited the area and did a Google search for a place to eat. Discovered the Plough. What a lovely place. Made to feel very welcome and staff were brilliant. The food was so good as was the service. A quick phone call in advance to book a table is recommended. They have their own car park. A beautiful out door area with covered tables. If your in the area I recommend a visit
