Food is good, the menu is quite inventive. Service is slow, sporadically attentive, despite that the restaurant was less than half full. There seems to be enough staff but only a couple of them seem to be experienced.

The food is flawless. It needs to be when it's £15 for a chocolate pudding, but it was so good I'd be tempted to cycle up here after dinner at home just to have it again, every night. Service excellent, although so attentive they kept doubling up on "can I take your drinks order" etc just after the other waiter had already taken it.

We enjoyed some nice drinks and ordered food while being well looked after by the staff. The starters were ok - the cauliflower soup was smooth and tasty and the smoked salmon was ok although nothing special. We were then served our mains - two of us had the tortellini, and we had 5 of them on our plate. For a £22 plate, 5 pieces of pasta. They were tasty but we were surprised we had so few. Another of our party had fish and chips - the fish was tiny. We said to our server about both the size of the fish and the number of pasta and he didn’t say anything at all. After coffees (no desserts) we received our bill - the 2 glasses of wine were £18 each! It was a rose but unfortunately, I had not asked the price. Our bill for 4 was £240 with a max of 6 drinks and 10 pieces of pasta for 2! Everything was tasty and we were well looked after but we won’t go back - we felt a bit ripped off.

I'm not one to give poor reviews but our fish was under cooked and raw around the bone so we sent it back. When they brought it out again it was overcooked. We paid full price for this which is disappointing. This is not what I would expect from a place at this price range.Staff failed to acknowledge this which was also disappointing. They kept on speaking like this was normal. That being said, the triple cooked chips is second to none and the bread was quite good.So 3* as opposed to 1.

The service was very nice. Very nice people. We had a lovely table near the fireplace. The Sunday roast was nice too. But the starter, Salmon was very simple just some salmon with not a toast or some lettuce. The pudding also very simple. But Is a nice place.

Amazing staff and service. Food more than fabulous, wine and port went down like a breeze, 😊

Absolutely flawless lunch at The Victoria - everything was cooked to perfection, cosy interiors reflecting the rich history of the pub and wonderful staff. Already planning my next visit!

Had a really lovely lunch here yesterday, the new fit out is beautifully done, with a lovely Bar & Garden area, along with a nice relaxed dining area. The new menu is delicious we had a quick lunch with my friend having the Fish Finger Sandwich & I had a perfectly cooked Wagyu Bavette.Wishing the new team all the best for their new opening & I am sure it will be a success.

Lovely to see The Victoria reopen under new management and after a complete refurbishment. We had an excellent evening, the staff are warm, friendly and attentive. The food is truly excellent. We tried the battered oysters, mushroom parfait with brioche, torched mackerel with beetroot and halibut with mussels. All competitively priced for the area but much better in quality, originality and flair. Interestingly the separate bar area is still cosy and inviting and has a 'pub like' feel while the dining area is definitely more of a restaurant style. We will be back to sample more of the menu....
