Been here a lot in the past seems to be under new management. The setting is good on a summer day. The food was good we all enjoyed the meal. We were greeted by a very officouse landlord as soon S we walked in the door wanting to know if we were eating and what we wanted to drink . He then took the money at the customer side of the bar a bit odd. Not really enough room to be doing this as the entrance to the bar is quite narrow and people were trying to get in behind us. We sat in the garden came inside to order food I was asked for a table number I told there was not one (3 of us had looked and not found one) he became quite rude told me it was on the table. He went to look and turns out I was supposed to find it in black ink on a dark brown table. Will not return his rude pushy manor spoilt a nice lunch.

Staff seemed not to care that they got our drinks wrong twice, and on the 3rd attempt had the cheek to say it was right the 2nd time because the barmaid said so !! Also the award winning pie was not good at all. The pastry was so hard it was inedible, and the filling was as dry as a desert. On a plus note, my steak was ok

Lovely setting.. and really nice food - particularly the sticky toffee pudding! Our only recommendation to the owner.. mango chutney with the curry please :-) .

Visited this pub for a midweek lunch. They had a decent Pescetarian choice. We ate indoors and found the level of attention and table service to be good. Our food was served promptly and was good. Nice coffee rounded off our meal which I found overall to be good value for money.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Avocado and prawn starter had no avocado in- it would have been nice if this was mentioned when we ordered. the chicken pie had very thick and hard pastry and less filling than expected, though the filling was nice. The brownie sundae had huge pieces of brownie which although delicious was difficult to eat - you needed to use your fingers. My husband and mum had the signature fish and chips, though, which was excellent, so they rated it 5 stars.

Four of us visited on Friday 4th February. First problem was no ice as the machine was broken!! I ordered a rump steak medium rare which I was unable to cut into. Even my husband tried cutting it and said it was tough. The waiting staff were so apologetic and returned it to the kitchen. I was told they were cooking another steak and waited... and waited. Meanwhile my fellow diners had finished their meals. Eventually I was served the same steak which was now well done and still difficult to cut and inedible. Again the waiting staff were very helpful and took the cost of my meal off the total bill and apologised again. So the waiting staff were brilliant but it ruined a nice evening out and we left earlier than planned

The service was perfect and the food delicious The staff made us very welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. Prices were reasonable, would highly recommend and will certainly go again, soon hopefully. Plenty of parking spaces.

Quaint pub, lovely atmosphere and staff. Some items not available but the staff were apologetic as this was beyond their control. Instead they offered helpful alternatives which did not disappoint. Drinks were thirst quenching. Food was outstanding, good sized portions. We were full with just the main, but pushed through for dessert and we are glad we did! CHRISTMAS NOTE: member of staff had the best Christmas blazer ever!! 🎄 🎅
