Very nice pub. Our first time here. The food was excellent, hot, tasty, well presented. It will not be our last visit.

Great pub, great value food and cater for sad old gluten intolerant weirdo's like me. Love it. Just wish it was a bit more local, I'd probably move in.

The food I'd give a 4 out of 5. Would have been a 5 out of 5, however, the wait for our dessert was over 20 minutes. When I book a meal I expect to be seated at a dining table with proper dining chairs, and there was only one dining table for four with proper dining chairs. The other tables were with easy chairs, bucket chairs, a settee, a soft arm chair and bar stools. Not ideal for eating a meal from. Whilst we were eating our meal a load of people came In and stood around our table which was rude, blocking the light out and their arses nearly on the dinner plates. They then eventually seated behind us on a long table (smaller tables put together). We then realised we were eating our meal amongst a funeral wake which was very uncomfortable. After finishing the main course I asked the bar lady if we could move to another area and she was quite abrupt. She said "I reserved you a table down there and you didn't sit at it". We said "when we arrived we spoke to the barman and we told him that we'd booked a quiet table under our name and he said 'you can sit anywhere, just not the long table ". He never told us there was a wake coming in. The table that the bar lady told us that she had reserved us, we would not have sat at anyway because i do not enjoy eating a meal sitting on a settee in a main bar with TVs playing music. When I booked, I asked for a quiet area to have our meal because it was a joint birthday meal, sitting in the main bar was not quiet because that is where we moved to in the end to eat our dessert and to be honest none of us enjoyed it due to the arrangement, and the long wait which personally i believe was deliberate. The Delme states there is a function room so where is it then?If you are holding a wake or any special event then you should block that area off so that other paying diners are not amongst it.

Went today for lunch, had the curry of the week....Chicken 'asian' style with coconut...have to say it was fantastic, loads of Chicken just the right amount of heat, fab flavour, came with rice a popadom and a shaped popadom filled with chutney. My first visit here and surely will not be my last. Can thoroughly recommend... busy (always a good sign!) so suggest you book to make sure you get a table. I went with a friend, already planning to take my husband next time. Prices are more than reasonable £21 for two with drinks. They run an offer of two mains for £12 during the week days for lunch...but you need to check details as we did not have this deal. Sorry but I didn't take any photos but will next time. Other dishes being served looked good portion sizes, and nicely presented. Welcoming staff, all in all a good first visit.

Food was lovely and went there for our daughters 40th birthday but it was spoilt because suddenly people appeared in with us for a wake we had to try and eat our meal with people virtually sitting on us we did not expect to be sharing a room with a wake and we have been told they do that a lot. The hospitality was very unwelcoming. They moved us so we could have desserts into the bar which was awful as the chairs were so low it was uncomfortable for eating. Because they hold wakes in the same room as people are eating meals we will not go back there although the food was lovely

Booked a meal for my birthday in January after such good reports of the Christmas menu, but was slightly disappointed. The food was ok, no grumble, but the room was so cold I had to keep my coat on. The bar is very sport's orientated, the beer is good. If there had been more warmth, i would have given 5 stars

What a gem. Driven past this place number of times over years and eventually had lunch here . Food was excellent and variety was great. Well done chef. Staff excellent and attentive. You can tell a good place when staff appear happy . Young lady who served us at 1230 on restaurant part near bar was brilliant . Will be going again.

Fabulous - we've passed this pub so many times over years of visiting my elderly parents in Portchester. What we missed by not stopping there before! Great pub food, really friendly service, good choice of beers. Warm cosy atmosphere. Best to book a table mid-week as the two for £12 mains are amazing value & very popular. The chef is great and I totally recommend his chicken bacon & cheese dish (hunters chicken?) - but save one portion for me!

Having just returned from a Christmas meal with 8 other hearty eaters, I felt compelled to congratulate the chef and staff at the Delme Arms for a job well done. Not only was the room beautifully laid out for our own group and one other large party, but we were welcomed by pleasant staff who maintained their smiles and helpfulness throughout the time we were there. The food was served promptly, hot and in good measure? Quality was good, easily providing value at £15,95 for 2 courses (3 courses available at £19,95) coffee, mints and mince pies. .All meals were ordered beforehand with a £5 deposit, so settling up was easy at little strain upon the wallet. Thankyou to all concerned for making our special occasion just that.

What a great local pub. Really lively and busy, especially on Premiership football afternoons/ evenings. Good selection of guest cask ales, ciders and lagers that are changed and updated regularly. Two bars, one seconds as a restaurant area, but food can be served in both. Simple, but tasty menu and Sunday lunch is a winner! There is a secure and large garden area with outdoor seating and tables, great for families. Parking is available on the road side of a residential road, there is no pub car park. Well worth a visit.
