We used a 3 course meal groupon and we aren't a fan of wine so we asked to swap the £17 bottle for a beer and a mojito. The meal was nothing fancy - just hearty, delicious, and great portions for the price we paid (around £30). We both ordered pate to start (no pictures of this as we wolfed it down!). For mains we had the 10oz rump steak and the mega burger. For dessert we ordered the chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding. 100% worth a visit as the food is great, especially with a groupon!

Went there for the first time with my parter and my 2 kids. From the begginning of entering the restaurant till the end of getting desserts we had to wait so long for everything. The food was warm not hot and nothing special. Overall very dissapointed, would never visit again 😕

Went for a wedding anniversary. Service was fantastic and staff were happy and polite. Building is very dated. Food was OK. Typical pub grub but OK.

Wife and I went for a meal. The food was delicious and the staff were brilliant. Place could do with some TLC. Definitely going back!

Went there today with a friend for afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly & attentive. We had endless pots of tea, a choice of sandwiches (we could choose 2 each), 2 small slices of a caramel cake, 1 piece of millionaires shortbread & 1 piece of flapjack, that we halved & shared. As we got to the main part of the cake stand, (the top!) we had a small scone each (choice of plain or fruit), and the usual cream & jam. As I took the scone & placed it on my plate, I had an overwhelming smell of, what I can only describe as donut oil or fat. As I cut it open, I could smell it more. I tasted it & could taste it too. My friend tried hers, and at first, couldn't detect anything, then the smell & taste came through. Even coating it in jam & cream, we could still taste it. And it left a coating in my mouth. So not sure if they'd been too close to some oil, or whether we just had 2 iffy ones. Had to find a server when finished, otherwise it was quite easy to just walk out, as nobody checked my booking or name, when we arrived. Lovely place, but not sure if I'd return for the afternoon tea.

Can't tell you how grateful we were to find this little gem of a hotel. My girls, my mum and I had a family emergency and needed somewhere quick. The staff couldn't do enough for us - both on the evening and the following morning. Bar and breakfast were great. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all of you - wonderful staff xxx

It was nice with the Groupon deal. Understaffed but so is everywhere in the hospitality trade still. Food was lovely and plenty of it with the afternoon tea and gluten free options wasn't a problem. Be aware parking it tight in their car park not a lot of spaces. Nice old building x

Had a Groupon voucher. £29.99. 2 course meal with a drink. Very good value. Gammon steak was very nice. My wife had salmon which was nice but a bit dry. Could have done with a sauce over it. Would definitely go back.

Went in the restaurant for a meal that was a present. From the outside it doesn't look much. As you walk in the wooden beams and the smell of a open fire welcomes you. Could do with up dating but felt welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was cooked well and can't really complain for the prices they charge. Dog friendly too.
