The Castle Tavern in Gosport

I'd passed couple of times, noting the historical aspect and finally visited after walking from Portchester. Sadly all tables inside were reserved and though warm out, sitting outside didn't give me much a flavour of the pub (but rather Gosport traffic and unruly patrons).However, the staff I spoke to at bar were friendly and next time in Gosport I hope to return.

Have been here a couple of times recently, during the week I had lasagne which was the best tasting one ever then went for Sunday lunch, which you must book a table for a maximum of 2 hours, a lamb dinner with all the trimmings for £5.95 (OAP), couldn't fault it scrummy gravy. Highly recommended, looking forward to going again.

Good pub food with generous portions. The beer is always kept well. Traditional pub right by the ferry and marina. Great friendly atmosphere and staff. Highly recommended

Lovely food, very friendly and happy members of staff. The portions sizes were amazing. Everything is really well priced and clean. I would love to give The Castle Tavern more than 5 stars. I'd highly recommend going here.

In a word, Outstanding! A very quiet pub, with friendly & welcoming staff. The food is good, and if you're a bitter drinker, try BOOM... Lovery drop of stuff. Will definitely return next time I'm in town

I visited recently for a works Christmas party, but have been using for many years. Great service, fantastic food and friendly staff. Very welcoming. a great traditional pub.

Friendly, efficient staff. Food was sent bed hot and courses had an appropriate time between them. Food was hot and very tasty. overall, an enjoyable Christmas dinner with friends in a welcoming atmosphere 😊

One of our favourite pubs in Gosport ..sadly not been in fir some time due to covid and illnessIt's always been a lovely friendly pub with great food but it had got a wee bit tired decor wise .So during the last lockdown the pub was refurbished:)Now it has all the old attributes plus it now looks fantastic too :)If you've not been too the castle 🏰 you must try it .Early/Mid week lunchtime prob no need too book up but Fri sat Sunday deff book .. Xmas dates filling up fast too !

Sunday lunch is a real treat at the Castle. Recommend you book as it is really popular. Very generous helpings of meat and veg, for both small and large orders, plus proper gravy, delicious. Landlady Verity and her staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Great food good beer and friendly service. Loved the Ham egg and chips and kids and missus enjoyed their food. Would definitely recommend their roast dinners in house or delivered. They are always good.
