Mother's Day massacre at the Clarendon Royal Hotel.I thought we'd accidentally stumbled into someone else's wedding, but no drama as looks can often be deceiving. After around 30 minutes of sitting parched, we had to prompt one of the few waitresses to take our drinks order. After a while of waiting around we started to notice tables around us having problems with their orders, those that got theirs. We had to get up and ask twice where our main course was, only for it to arrive lukewarm, just like the service.I find it hard to understand how poorly organised something can be when we ordered 4 days ahead of time from a set menu. One of our guests too was given a last minute replacement of her starter as she had allergies and they couldn't seemingly be bothered to source gluten-free bread.I think every table around us complained about the quality of what they received or the fact it took about an hour per course. In the end we watched at least 3 full tables leave early because their food hadn't arrived. In the end we left before our desert came. The staff weren't strictly speaking rude, but didn't seem to care at all about any of the issues we had.I'd give our experience three thumbs down, if I had another thumb.

Went for sunday lunch as a table of 12. Food was nice, but unfortunately our large group wasn't catered for very well. Drinks were slow, items were missing off of plates, some was cold. I think if you're a normal sized table, this would be great, but don't go if you're a big group

Reception staff and Bar staff amazing! Very welcoming and friendly!😁 Loos though we're too small and floor very wet from the basins.

Mixed experiences with my family. We were a party of 20, some of us had a great meal, others hated theirs. Some of the staff couldn't be bothered to help when one of our party asked for no salad and he had to have the plate returned twice. Drinks were expensive. When it came to pay we had over £40 to pay at the end because of hidden extras or incorrectly labelled menus. We wouldn't go again.

Dropped in around 13.00 for a cup if coffee. Absent staff eventually appeared, very helpful. Lots of used cups, glasses dumped on the bar counter. We stepped for 40-45min. No staff member was interested in tiding up used glassware 'decorating' bar top.Shame, decor quite opulent.

Decent hotel for a small run down town. I certainly easily more fancy than any other in town. I as far as I know the prices are not extortionate per day but they are compared to Gravesends average hotel

I had 23 guests at The Royal Clarendon Gravesend to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday. We all had Sunday roast, it was plentiful and delicious as were the starters and deserts.David, the manager, was helpful and friendly. I was permitted to arrive early to decorate the table with balloons etc and a huge cake. The staff went out of their way to help out and made it an all round excellent celebration.Thank you all so much.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The only problem was that we only found out after we checked out that breakfast had been included, but nobody told us so we ate elsewhere. A shame really, because the people we were with said it was very good. I would still definitely recommend it, but maybe they should give guests all relevant information so they can make the most of their stay.

A nice hotel, restaurant and function room. The staff were very friendly and happy to assist, nothing seemed too much trouble. There's free parking opposite (controlled by ANPR at the hotel reception). The function room has everyone you need, with a bar in the same room and DJ lighting already installed in the room over the dancefloor.
