Booked a table on line easily. Friendly welcome to us and two dogs. Very helpful regarding gluten free options. Service was relaxed but efficient while the food was excellent. Especially the nourish bowl and sticky toffee pudding. Would recommend. We sat outside but dogs also welcome inside.

Updating a previous 5 star review with some additional commentary... This is a fantastic pub! Great food for vegans and non vegans and the staff are brilliant!I recently arrived here after a very long ride and was served some much needed food very quickly. The staff are also plenty of fun, great to banter with and chat with, you can feel at home here instantly.

We had our sons christening party at the Horse and Groom. When booking, the staff were friendly and helpful. We had the private area at the back which was a good space for 18 of us. The food was really good. Came out in plenty of time and was lovely and fresh. We had the folk buffet and there was lots of food. We even took some home. The staff were very attentive. Roberto and his team, thank you.

Great atmosphere arrived a little early to our booking but was shown to our table service was great they allow appropriate time between ordering during and meals. The meals consisted of Sunday roast the 3 meats and a plate of fish and chips. The meats was cooked to our liking and veg was nice. The fish had a nice coat of batter and not greasy like some pubs we have eaten in. All the food was hot. We plumped for deserts a little after finishing again couldn't fault. The coffees rounded of an enjoyable meals and lovely venue Wel done staff. The manager asked us if we had any issues with service as they was unfortunately short on the Sunday we visited. he was concerned that we was still seated a couple of hours after. unfortunately we don't like to rush like some people. So it was our choice to embrace a most enjoyable meal.

Excellent! From the food to the service!I have been visiting a friend in the area and we have eaten here twice this week. Everyone is so friendly upon arrival and throughout the meal. Very attentive on both occasions.The food is fresh and brilliant quality! Would highly recommend.

Had a really good mid-week family lunch for 6 and the wide choice of dishes meant that everyone was very happy. Nice warm atmosphere and staff very helpful and friendly. The new manager was really taking an active role and made us feel very welcome. We will certainly visit again. Well done .

An absolutely delicious lunch. We sat by the fire had the steak and posh fish sandwiches. The steak was beautifully cooked. It was reasonably priced and good quality The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back

Me and my partner went out for a romantic meal as it was date night.I had a lovely pizza and he had the 10oz Rib eye steak. After getting half way through his steak disappointingly the other half consisted of pure fat. I told a waitress about this issue to be told after speaking with the chef. There was nothing they could do about that cut of meat and its how they were delivered. There was no offer of a discount on the meal. We weren't asked how our meal was until the plates had been collected.Then when our plates were taken my partner asked for the bill to which no one came to bring us the card reader. I decided to go the bar and speak with another member of staff about the issue with the steak. To which they didn't seem to apologetic about but eventually gave a slight discount on the meal. After reading others experiences with customer service I believe the customer service we received this evening was unacceptable. After 5 year of working in a pub myself I was shocked by what I saw this evening.

First time in a long time I have been to a restaurant and all 3 courses were of superb quality. Meat was tender, presentation was excellent and taste was very good indeed.Service staff were attentive and in good spirits, this is rare to see nowadays.Hats off to the staff. I live 50+ miles from this restaurant and it was booked as we are staying in a hotel locally, but would I gladly drive there again to enjoy the food and atmosphere.5* for sure.
