What a lovely surprise it was to find that this quirky pub had so much to offer, from very well organised different outdoor seating areas with a huge marquee, private huts to ample indoor seating are with rustic decor. The service was carried out by friendly and warm stuff, and they catered for a variety of dietary requirements.

We have just had a meal In Jovial sailor in one of their huts. There was 4 of us and a dog for my birthday treat. We were greeted by one of the managers James and served by Jess, they were excellent, very attentive, very good knowledge of all aspects of hospitality and nothing was too much trouble. The food was great and overall we had a lovely evening and will strongly recommend you. Thank you again and hope to see you soon.

Great meal from an interesting menu. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I am tempted to say at least 50% of choices fall into that category. For the first time ever, I ordered a vegan main: enchiladas, not because I wanted a vegan meal but because I like Mexican food. It was very good although I found the vegan cheese tasteless. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only slight downside is that, as happens in so many places, once they clear the dirty crockery from the mains, the staff disappear. We finally were able to get to see pudding menus. I was driving so cannot speak to the drinks menu but it seemed good. There is a huge outdoor seating area, including a garden bar, which must be busy in warmer weather.

Good friendly pub. All the staff were amazing. Congratulations to them, the manager and the obvious great training they receive. It was lovely to meet friendly, smiley, motivated young people who are dedicated to how they serve their customers.

Good atmosphere, only passing by but staff were friendly. Food was decent and prices reasonable too.

Warm, bright, friendly pub/restaurant. Lots of seating inside and out. Large carpark. Lots of staff all busy working. Large menu which caters for all types of allergies. Portion sizes were great. Barbara was our waitress, very friendly, smiley and attentive.

Comfortable quick lunch - outdoors "pod" (shed) booked, covid friendly and sensitive behaviour from staff, would definitely eat there again.

I'd struggled, a few weeks before, to find somewhere that my (hard to please) vegetarian daughter would eat, and also accommodate my son who really fancied a "Mac & cheese" on the day we went out, previously.I knew that the food here was good anyway (I've eaten here twice before) and looking online, there was plenty of vegetarian choices for No1 child. I chanced my luck when I reserved the table online, and asked if the kitchen would be able to do Mac & cheese for No2 child. To my surprise, I had a call from one of the managers the next day, saying that that wouldn't be a problem and how would my son like his mac & cheese? When we arrived, the staff were fantastic! Very friendly and engaging and made us feel totally welcome. The waitress, bless her, wasn't even fazed by the old (read "ancient") friend that I'd arranged to meet there too. He has the driest, darkest, most sarcastic, non-pc sense of humour in the Northern hemisphere, and she certainly gave him a run for his money!No1 thoroughly enjoyed her food and No2 absolutely loved his, having been given a MASSIVE dish full, with the promise that he could take whatever he didn't eat home with him. Of course, being a very active 14 year old boy with frequent growth spurts, he managed to polish the lots off!I can't recommend the Jovial Sailor and it's staff highly enough!... 10/10!

Another delicious lunch after a short walk today. We were a small group sat outside. The pub has put up a huge awning over the outside seating, with heaters and with cushions to sit on over the chairs. The staff are always efficient and friendly here....I think these young people have a good manager over them. Food is good, decent portions and a large menu.

We've not been here for a while so we rocked up yesterday for a late lunch, it was busy & we hadn't booked but we got a nice table inside. There's plenty of choice on the menu & the food was well presented & tasty. Despite eating too much I had to have the apple crumble. Our server Lauren was brilliant (as were all the staff) only downside was your coffee machine wasn't working but otherwise a great experience.
