The White Hart, Tongham Public House in Guildford

My husband and I visited this pub as we were staying at a nearby hotel. The taxi driver told us not to bother but that didn't deter us.The pub was completely empty and we felt a little worried however we were given the warmest welcome from the landlord and his lovely wife.We ordered duck pancakes and we could tell they were being cooked from fresh as we had a small wait. The food was amazing probably the best duck pancakes we have had. The mains gammon for me and pie for my husband were beautifully cooked and the pudding was lovely. I didn't share 😂We spoke to the landlord who said they had only taken over a year ago and were trying to change the pubs reputation. Yes it was very quite but the welcome and food made it worth a visit.

Still building up trade decimated by previous tenant. Way to go yet

A true real English pub with real ale Good vibe and a pool table what more could you ask for and the locals are really welcoming great proper pub

Very poor Sunday lunch. Visited with my wife and we had the roast beef and roast chicken. The chicken was dry and inedible, and the beef was not much better. We booked in advance as we thought it might be busy given the other reasonable reviews, but we were the only diners.

Great olde worlde pub lovely beer and nice warm fire

Great place to have a meal.I would recommend the 8oz sirloin steak.It's very reasonably priced and they will also let you use a tab.Only downside I found was the toilets could do with a bit of attention as the lock was missing and seat dirty and paper on floor.Also sitting by the window I could not help but notice all the dead flies and some dust,. Nothing a bit of cleaning before food service.I would give more stars but due to lack of cleaning and toilet maintenance.It is usually not like that, must be having a busy day.
