The venue itself is fabulous absolutely stunning. Our room was lovely just a shame the view was of roofs. However what does let this hotel down is the staff. Barman was more interested in putting on the lights than serve us. Breakfast staff totally untrained we watched a family wait 10 minutes while 3 different members of staff cleared & reset the table! We had to ask twice to set a further place at our table. We then had to ask for coffee no one came round asking us or anyone else if we wanted tea or coffee. No one to greet you at the restaurant & although the cooked breakfast was ok it took the staff ages to refill the items & although breakfast went on until 10.30am by 10am there was hardly anything left. Such a shame as the lack of trained staff are letting down this otherwise amazing venue

It was my daughter's wedding anniversary 7 years ago, we came back with there two year old daughter for the Easter egg hunt and had a Sunday lunch. A lovely meal but the service was poor we had a long wait between courses. We had a lovely time and it was a great day.

Had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return. We had a half board package.Room: our room was spacious and luxurious. The bed was indeed firm but it was no issue (even for me who prefers a softer mattress). The only minor issues were that there was no fresh milk in the room despite having a fridge (only whitener in the hospitality tray) and the shower in the morning never quite became hot enough, though it wasn't so cold that my partner couldn't shave. Our views were lovely and the room was very quiet.Grounds/Hotel: absolutely gorgeous. We did the 3km walk which wasn't hugely scenic, but was very nice to have on the doorstep. The bar and restaurant were lovely with views to die for.Service: there were some minor issues and lack of attention to detail. Many staff seemed to be new and quite nervous. We were surprised no one asked if we'd like help with our bags to the second floor (no lift). Though this wasn't an issue for us, for some it might be a challenge!Food: However, at dinner, they were very attentive, particularly when I mentioned my allergy and the dinner in the evening was outstanding. Breakfast was acceptable but as with most buffets, the food could have been hotter. The coffee was very weak and we weren't offered milk at the table.Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again as it's very good value for money, but there are a few minor issues preventing it from being an exceptional hotel.

Last year myself and my fiancĂ©e considered The Elvetham as the venue for our wedding. We were given a tour by a very nice lady who did a great job in walking and talking us through the house with that it has to offer.Unfortunately it was not to be and we ended up choosing another venue although it did make our top 5 favourites! It’s a lovely place for a wedding and I would urge anyone to take a look.We also recently treated family to Afternoon Tea here. This held in the Orangery to the rear of the house overlooking the gardens. Due to it being April the weather could of been better but nothing anyone can do about that!I m’m not really an afternoon tea person so I opted for Pizza 🍕 and a pint! The chef even made me up a garlic-mayo dip which was lovely but very strong!!!!Anyway, everyone enjoyed their tea, scones, sweets and wine. One small point to note is that we had made a reservation for the table, however this was not ready upon our arrival which was an inconvenience as we had to wait 20-30 minutes. Other than that the staff were very professional and polite. Also we would of added a tip if there had been an option to do so via the card machine - who carries cash these days?!

What a lovely stay we just had! All the staff from reception to the restaurant staff were super friendly. The room was beautiful and spotless. Our 4 year old daughter felt and was treated as a true princess, thank you

A beautiful building and grounds but that's about it.A nice looking room, let down by an incredibly uncomfortable bed (2 rock hard singles pushed together).Took nearly 30 mintues to find someone to get a bit of milk for a coffee.A freezing cold bathroom with no heating which had clearly been removed as the earth cable was sticking out of the wall and the hand towel holder was missing with half the fitting left on the wall.Matters get worse at meal times, no staff available. We stood waiting for quite a while for someone to appear. Awful service. The food tasted like it had been microwaved. We had to hunt for staff whenever anything was needed. No one at the bar either.Same deal at breakfast, no one greeting guests, no menu offered. The waitress was abrupt and uninterested. Low quality ingredients, a quite frankly pathetic cold buffet offering. The hotel does not deserve the 4 stars it seems to boast. Undertrained staff who have no interest in what they are doing.

Beautiful hotel with lovely grounds. A very interesting history to the site too. Loved the gothic Victorian interiors which makes the place feel unique. The staff are also extremely pleasant. Highly recommend.

Stayed as a family of four and couldn't have enjoyed it more!Steeped in rich history, adorned in paintings, carvings, stained glass windows and beautiful countryside. The children were fascinated by the connection to Royalty and loved exploring the hotel and grounds.Leo, the Reception Manager, was amazing! He bent over backwards to make the children feel welcome. Thank you Leo :-)We have already booked to come back next New Year's Eve! Thank you for making it such a special weekend and thanks to all the staff who were working on New Years Eve and Day!

The setting is great. The room was great. That’s where the great ends unfortunately.Booked dinner for 7:30. No-one to greet you at the dining room. Stood for 5 minutes. Finally sat down. No drinks ordered until 7:55. Food average, service quite laughably bad (waiters unfamiliar with wine, stretching over you to pour water etc.)Breakfast much the same service wise. Poor choice of cold food and fruit. Frankly inedible hot buffet. Cheap sausages, hash browns reduced to what looked like sawdust, overcooked bacon, ‘scrambled egg’ looked like a glutinous mass that you would’ve needed a knife to get through and a lack of fried eggs available. Complete lack of direction when it came to dining room service. For such a beautiful place it’s completely let down by the lack of competent service from the majority of the dining room staff, however the exceptions were the young lady at the bar (who was literally juggling plates and drinks trying to keep up) and the older gentleman in the dining room.Such a shame that The Elvetham has been cheapened by a lack of investment both financially and in their staff training.Date of visit: 8th January 2022.

We were here for a wedding and a great time was had by all. The building itself is magnificent and well worth a look round. The wedding breakfast was nice and the serving staff well organised, the drinks were over priced but that is hotels for you. Our room was great with a really nice walk in shower and a bath, but no bath towels!! Which was only discovered after my wife had her shower....
