where taken out for lunch for our 50th wedding anniversary by friends the bar was freezing cold as was the steak & sausage pie and the chicken &leek pie was not much better my wife had to ask to get hers het up the fox and hounds used to get a good name but it seams to have dropped

Not great Service took forever just getting a round of drinks over half an hour this was a Sunday at 5.15pm just over 2hrs in the restaurant & hadn't had main meal , when starters came about an hour after ordering potatoe skins were way over cook & portion was daunting , main meal classic burger was good when it eventually arrived

Food was excellent and prepared to a high standard. I have a number of intolerances and staff were excellent at accommodating. Extra points awarded due to fact that there were 3 choices of alcohol free beer. If you are designated driver the same old choices can become mundane but hats off for providing three.

Not bad pleasant enough place. Food OK, certainly plenty of it, big portions. Rubbish frozen haddock though, avoid the fish n chips. Excellent service from all the staff particularly DAVID he is the man.

5/5 for service, the girl with dark hair and hair in braids was amazing. Sadly the food wasn't. Kids meals were heavily salted... what chef would salt a kids meal.... the roast beef dinner... well the veg and Yorkshire were lovely but the roast beef... was like 2 bits of rubber. Place is lovely inside but whoever owns it really needs to do something re food. Based on what we had we won't be back. We did add a tip which we hope went to the girl serving us.

We were a party of 7 and went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The restaurant looked lovely but there was no atmosphere, in fact we were the only table for a long time. Still, the service was extremely slow. I'm all for relaxed and extended lunches but this was not like that. Everything took TOO long to arrive, even the drinks. There never seemed to be anyone around to ask a question and no one explained anything in the menu or whether there were any specials that day, etc. Even during our meal, if we needed something we had to wait for ages for a waiter/waitress to arrive, a couple of times we actually had to get up and go find a waiter - despite there being plenty of them, it's just that they seemed to be more interested in gathering in wee corners out of sight to chat with each other!! When the food arrived, a couple of things were wrong - despite us specifically asking for them - and one main course did not arrive at all until the rest of us were almost finished. When it did arrive, no explanation or apology for the delay was given. However, to be fair, that main course was taken off the bill by another young waitress, not the one who served the food, and she apologised several times for the delay. The food itself was just ok for me but, other people in our party said theirs was lovely. The portions were generous and the prices quite reasonable - in fact, they had a "sale" on and many prices were reduced!!
