The food was excellent. My wife loved her salad and I loved my gammon steak. I also really enjoyed the local ale. The staff were excellent.

I’ve visited several times in the past few years and 3x within the past month so I have waited to leave a genuine review based on each recent visit overall.First time we visited was for Sunday lunch and that was amazing! Being a massive foodie family we make it a thing to eat out once a week and therefore decided to visit a further 2x in the following 2 weeks. Visit no2 wasn’t bad but not great either - I ordered the rotisserie chicken which was amazing but my kids were disappointed that the Mac and cheese wasn’t available! We were told at the time of ordering that they didn’t have it so I had two very disappointed children to say the least, anyway they went for pizza and enjoyed that all the same! My OH ordered the dirty burger and enjoyed that, I finished off with the blueberry polenta cake which came out with warm custard so it wasn’t very appealing. Service on that occasion was slow and once we’d paid our bill we noticed £9.25 service charge added which we paid unknowingly! We tip always but both myself and OH agreed we wouldn’t have left that much and the only reason I didn’t check was because service had definitely not been included on our previous visit.Visit no3 was today and to be completely honest was quite a disappointment - I ordered tea which came out without milk and by the time I got some, my tea was cold! They did have Mac and cheese though and my kids enjoyed that. I ordered the salmon fillet which was £15.95, first of all for that price I would expect more, the salmon was over cooked, not much flavour and came with a side of veg and nothing else, the cooked spinach must of been old because you could see brown on the end of the stalks that had been cooked. I didn’t enjoy it at all but it had been a long day and didn’t complain. No service on the bill this time but I still left a tip because I’m a nice person like that. My takeaway from this is to stop wasting my money on mediocre food that I can easily cook myself. We won’t be visiting again anytime soon but I would return in the future because I have had some really delicious meals here. I do think the quality of food depends on who the chef is on the day.

Came here a week or so ago with a few of my girlfriends for something small to eat and some drinks…Wow, lovely atmosphere and very welcoming. The young very tall man at the bar was very chatty and was very educated on the drinks on offer. We chose a few different cocktails throughout the night and I would have them all again and again! Amazing! The lady who served us food made sure we had everything we needed and that everything was ok with the food.10/10 experience and will definitely be coming back asap!!!Thank you everyone at oatsheaf!🍸🍸

Really nice place and the food was great. The only reason didn't give a 5 was that our particular waiter wasn't very welcoming or friendly. He leaned over me to put the plate down for the person sitting next to me and his sleeve went in my dinner. He didn't notice and I didn't say anything. His attitude wasn't right for such a customer facing role. He actually went off duty while we were there and the next waitress was fabulous. We would go back but think the staff need some training in customer service.

Was there on Sunday evening (2nd Jan) and had a really nice time. Lovely food and drinks at reasonable price. Only thing I’d say that annoyed me was there was a table near us who were constantly complaining about things out of the staffs control (who were very friendly and doing a fantastic job in my opinion) but didn’t ruin our night so was all good in the end.

This was a great evening, the food we had was great, good portions and at the sort of price you would expect to pay. They did add a service charge thou but because it was a very good meal we would have left a tip anyway. Highly recommended especially the chocolate orange melting ball for desert...🙂👍😋

A visit with friends to celebrate my birthday. The staff are wonderful and always helpful, our waitress Rebecca was very attentive and managed to remember our rather large order, even down to no cheese on the burger! I can't thank her enough for her brilliant service, as she made a birthday visit a real treat and the whole meal ran smoothly. The meals were amazing and the favourites never disappoint. I'll be back again!

The food here is very well presented. They have a lovely amount of space for seating. The staff were lovely as well and checked on us a good number of times (not too little but not too frequently).
