Went here on Easter Sunday with a group of friends and everything lived up to our expectation. The pub was in a beautiful setting and still has the character of a traditional country pub. The staff were very attentive, and friendly from the offset. I personally had the Shoulder of mutton which was exceptional. We all had different main courses and all the food was of an excellent standard. It also offered a great selection of cask ales and spirits. I would definitely recommend the Shoulder of mutton for a relaxing day in the country.

Excellent food, lovely pub, and attentive staff. Will definitely be returning any time I'm back in the area. And will also make it back even if I'm not.

Can't say enough how lovely this hidden gem is.I would travel miles for their delicious food especially the lamb its absolutely amazing(and i did😊)Such lovely staff too..If you ever get chance to pop in then you must..Even better stay over as their rooms are the best with underfloor heating massive bed,the whitest towels and the fluffiest dressing gowns...Great hospitality tray...and all top quality fittings 10/10

Visited on a Saturday afternoon which was busy as there was also a Christing on going. However the staff were very good and got us a table. Lots of people were eating and the meals looked good. We had sandwiches, soup and chips which were very nice. Also a good range of well kept beers. All In all a good lunch time. The young staff and the landlady were very efficient and friendly. The pub is in the middle of the village but there is a car park to the rear.

Just had a 2day break here. Apartment was lovely, with added touches that made our stay even more comfortable. Restaraunt meals were delicious and staff helpful and friendly. Will go back again. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Lunch with old friends. A delightful old place with good food and pleasant service. I don't like a heavy meal at lunchtime and I was delighted with the small portion options offered. All together, an enjoyable visit.

A lovely Sunday meal with the family! On a cold day, we decided we felt like a warm, cozy spot for Sunday lunch. We had roast ham, roast beef, sausages and fish and chips. All were delicious and the roaring fire kept us all nice and toasty! Exactly what we were looking for! Beautiful little village too!

We loved our stay at Shoulder of Mutton, it is a hidden gem of a pub and it is clear why it is so popular with the locals. We had a delicious meal with plenty of world class Timothy Taylor Landlord and then a wonderful sleep in the very peaceful accommodation. The breakfast the next day next to the roaring fire was exceptional and a lovely way to start the day. Kate and her team are doing a fantastic job of offering proper Yorkshire comfort in a historic pub.

Been going here for years - with friends, family - for birthdays, funerals - every single occasion. Never had a single bad experience. I am a coeliac and the food is always prepared with complete care. The staff are fluent in allergies which makes it very easy to relax.Best of all, very reasonable value.
