A special find. We were lucky to get a table as it was a busy sunny day. It was recommended to us by a local and didn’t disappoint. The staff were clearly working incredibly hard (1 staff member down) but still made the time to be so friendly. Lovely atmosphere, sea view, the softest cod with such a delicate batter. A gem.

Fish and chips is meant to be fun. The lady working there seemed kind of outraged or embarrassed for me that I didn't have a reservation. Was told to wait 20 mins for takeout ended up being 40.The chips are very delicious but I found them too crispy to be paired with the fish. Even the fluffiest ones felt oily too. In addition to that, the batter on the fish was insubstantial and fairly flavourless. I still very much enjoyed the box of fish and would give 4 stars if not for the unfriendly welcoming. I'm just nitpicking on the quality of the box as I had high expectations.

We got to Maggie's at the boat around 2pm and they'd already sold out of the specials and chowder so definitely go early lunchtime. I had the flat fish with chips and it was actually nice without all the batter, perfectly cooked and flaky. The salad was a nice addition. The chips were a bit plain but a good portion and the sauce wasn't too sour.

Good service and well cooked catch of the day. Can’t fault Maggie and her merry crew for delivering on a decent and well priced meal.As commented by others, you definitely need to book.

Generally you need to book in advance, luckily I got a seat without booking but quite obscured from the sea view. There was a few options for catch of the day, I ordered the squid. Chips were beautifully crisp but soft inside, fish was also deliciously fresh.

First time in Hastings, craving proper fish and chips, plenty of places around, but somehow we ended up at Maggie's. Some may say the place is tiny or does not look too inviting, but rest assured you can't go wrong with this little gem. Fresh fish in super tasty batter, crispy chippies and top-notch home made tartare sauce, probably one of the best I ever came across. And there comes the highlight of our visit, her name is Kim, one of the waitresses, floor staff, kitchen staff and whatnot, she was all over the place and definitely owned it. At some point I even asked if she is the owner, no she is not, she started working there 2 months ago! Absolut superstar, perfect host along with being a quintessence of the highest level customer service and what hospitality is about! This industry needs more people like her! Keep it up!

Simple but excellent menu, well cooked, good quality food at a very good price. Great staff, and interesting view of the fishing boats and sea, and a miniature railway that goes under the restaurant. All in all a 5 star experience.

Nice selection of fish, we decided to go for a catch of a day - plaice and traditional cod along with portion of mushy peas- portions were of larger size we expected, the fish was fresh delicately battered, chips were thick and the lady who served us (Kim) delightful. We were served very quickly and could enjoy the view of the sea as we had outside table. We will definitely return there.

We ordered takeaway chips from Maggie's two days in a row and on the third we sat inside. Each time we ordered, they were all very friendly and welcoming. I never knew chips could taste so good. Nice view of the sea and the miniature steam train travels right under the balcony. Will hopefully be back one day soon.
