Not a bad place, first thing in the morning was not the warmest of places inside, and the toilets are also outside. Food was good, and arrived quickly. The young lady serving was polite and attentive taking orders, clearing away, and waiting.

Really poor, pukka pie was not a pukka pie. Had also been microwaved. The bun of the cheese burger was also very burnt. Big disappointment with the curry sauce to very runny and too spicy.

Maggie's (recommend as the best) had shut early so we came here; turned out to be no way a secondary option - fresh fish and crisp yet fluffy chips that weren't at all oily. Lovely staff and chef, we'll definitely be back!

Came here for brunch on a Wednesday, with no idea what it was like.We had the special breakfast, a cod and chips and savaloy and chips. We couldn’t fault anything! The Cod was beautiful, flaky and the batter was crisp. The breakfasts were also very good, portion sizes were just right, if not a little too big.The staff are attentive and lovely, and nothing is too much trouble! All in all a great place to have food on the seafront… and we went back the next day! 😁

After a long drive down to Hastings from the north we arrived at lunch time quite Hungary and stepped in to the nearest cafe we could findWhat a find my wife and I both had fish and chipsThey were delicious the chips were very hot and light and crispyThe fish was so fresh it was amazing and the pure white flesh from the haddock was delicious the batter was also crispy and not a sign of any grease to be seen anywhereI am from the north of England and in my area they usually serve the fish skinless .Before ordering I asked if the fish had skin on and the waitress replied yesI did ask if they could take the skin off as I prefer this and the chef very kindly obliged and removed itThey are so many places to eat fish n chips in Hastings ,but I am so glad I chose the mermaid we are here for another 7 days and I will definitely return before going homeThank you so much for a wonderful lunch and an amazing experience

Really nice fish and chips, fresh fish, nice portion of chips. We walked in on a Friday evening and were able to enjoy the sun while we had dinner for a bit. Got a bit cold when the sun went out as there were no heaters.
