shiplu tandoori hastings in Hastings

It's a shame to write this as the food is lovely. Unfortunately the delivery service is awful. We ordered online. order confirmation stated delivery time as 19.39, 40 minutes from placing the order. At 20.00 I called the restaurant only to be told the food was only just leaving. The food turned up finally at 20.39, but we got received wrong order. We called the restaurant and they said they would get the driver back. 10 minutes later it arrived, the food package smelt heavily of cigarette smoke and the food was cold. The food tastes amazing but the service let's the restaurant down.

After perusing their online menu, we made up an order to the cost of £16.08. I called the restaurant to place the order and was told the total was £22.50. When I asked them to check they explained that their prices had gone up - fair enough - after Covid most restaurants have had to put their prices up but this should be reflected on their website.The vegetable thali was not very good and not the standard we had experienced previously. The two side dishes had gone up in price from £2.66 to £4.45. One of them was Ali Gobi which is cauliflower and potato. There were literally two pieces of cauliflower in the side dish, the rest being the cheaper ingredient of potato. For that price, there should have been more cauliflower.Overall very disappointing:(

Good service, food was served in good time and most importantly, all dishes were really tasty. Spot on !.

If I could give no stars I would. Ordered online on their website. When we got confirmation it said it’d be an hour. After 1 hour 15 mins we called to see where it was and were told it was on its way. It never came, so called after another 30mins to be told 5-10 mins. After 20 mins I called to cancel the order, to be told they had no order under our address. When I gave the order number, he denied all knowledge of it. My email confirmation had the right address with the order number. They were very rude and unhelpful on the phone. Can’t believe the dishonest, rude treatment we received, would never ever go back.

It is a long time since we visited this restaurant and we were very disappointed. The food was over spiced and near impossible to eat. Some of the meal was ok. Would not go again.

So disheartened to write this review having been a fan for years of this restaurant, I ordered a takeaway & it came in good time. Half of my starter was missing. I rang restaurant and was fobbed off with the manager will sort it. I asked how would it be resolved. I will get the manager to call you. I am still waiting. Have now made a complaint to hungry house who were also told 'the manager is out. This was not a cheap meal by any means. The food was incredibly greasy tonight. The meat was of reasonable quality but so disappointed to have my end of week treat let me down & then the problem not being resolved even after a 15 minute call to hungry house (hungry house was not the problem).

I really love this restaurant because they have good service and their food is amazing! I will definitely ask my mum to take me there again and i think that parents should take their kids with them. Also the restaurant is beautiful inside and the colors make me feel warm especially on a cold day.

I think that the staff here are really friendly, prices are reasonable and the food tastes great! I recommend that others should definitely try out the food and I guarantee that they will love it!

Excellent service, the waiters were extremely attentive, the food was exquisite and we were then offered a free brandy at the end of our meal! I've been twice now but will definitely be coming back again next time I fancy a curry. I would definitely recommend Shiplu Norman Road if you're in the area

Very great price and good quality meal and service. I am always very happy eating here, its my favorite place to eat out in Hastings and second favorite in Hastings & Rother (second to Rose & Crown in Sidley).The staff are very polite and friendly and the calming music playing makes me relaxed.Price is right at the Shiplu.
