The Crown in Hastings

Ok , so this was my first local back in the day and I have been coming here for over 30 years and I still love it . I have just had the most delicious Fish meal ever , it was absolutely delicious and the beer is great too . I can highly recommend the Crown pub in Hastings. Hope you enjoy the picture 😊x

This place is always fantastic. Great food, drinks, ambience and staff. I'm not over-egging the pudding by saying this is one of the best pubs out there. Not just in Hastings. In Britain

It’s like having a hug from an old friend, sometimes they smell but they are always welcoming, we had lovely time and we can’t wait to visit The Albion again.

Two years later and we're still going to the Crown pub!The food is as incredible as ever.I had the pan fried skate and it was so beautifully cooked. Fell off the bone and was perfectly seasoned. The roast vegetables were roasted perfectly and went wonderfully with the fish.Phil had the braised bacon chop with 2 fried eggs, chips and brown sauce, which was in his words, "the best fancy bacon egg and chips you'll come across."Dog friendly, people friendly, all in all, still one of the best places to eat bar none.----We've been coming here for years and every single time the food has been Outstanding. Literally the best plates of food we've ever had.Today I had Roast Place on the bone with Kohlrabi fondant, a cuttlefish carrot salad and mussel cream. The fish was perfectly cooked; soft and flaky and worked perfectly with the Kohlrabi and cream. The salad was cold and a good slightly sweet and sour counterpoint to the rich sauce.Phil had the pan fried chicken, which he said, and I quote "was the best chicken (I've) ever eaten." It was perfectly cooked to be moist inside but with a good skin and worked very well with the accompaniments.We were both drinking the on tap cider, a perfectly crisp, dry and not too sweet Night Bird Cider.I let them know I have serve allergies and they told me exactly what they use in the kitchen and what would be okay for me to eat and what might be contaminated so I could eat safe in the knowledge I would be okay.Wonderful staff, a lovely little put and incredible value for money. We absolutely always come here whenever we're in Hastings.

I never write reviews unless positive but the experience here is a stand out for being a bit unpleasant. After being refused a table in a rude manner by a main waitress we tried - politely to let them know we would like to wait for a table. The waitress then treated us in a very condescending manner, stating she wouldn't serve us drinks.. as a friendly bunch of people it was a very confusing situation. A couple of the staff were sweet and really friendly so I wouldn’t want this review to affect them. The music playlist was excellent and the starters were great but the fish didn’t taste fresh either.It was perfectly okay here but I’d recommend other pubs before this one!

After given abrupt runaround & made to feel unworthy of our custom by the smiley but rude manageress for half an hour we finally got a table. Elements of snobbery marred our determination to eat at this place I’d not been to in two decades.To its credit there was a really good eclectic well thought out music playlist though it was food we’d come for.The starters were good. The mains though were not so. No specials on a board. No Sunday lunch/roast to choose from & the cod with clams smelt a week old & certainly not fresh. With only three token clams you’d hardly have noticed & tough old sprouting broccoli not helping the dish.Asked for chilli sauce hoping to perhaps enhance or disguise the flavour as hungry & informed it would take an hour to cook & the kitchen would close shortly. All they had by way of spicy condiments was Tabasco.Felt one had to almost grovel to earn the respect of the staff.Didn’t expect this on a day trip out of season to catch up with old friends in this otherwise lovely part of the world at trendy London prices.

Really delicious food, friendly staff and accommodating chef... My skate was absolutely perfect, husband's haddock was gorgeous.. both served with really well matched sides. My 8 year old had small version of venison stew and my 11 year old loved the bacon chop. Also yummy local Ditchling g&t. Recommend all day long!

4.5 stars. Had booked a table but drinks took ages to be served after being ordered, as did food. Lovely ambiance and great craft/draught beer selection, though a bit pricey. Loved the look of seasonal menu and appreciated their commitment to using locally sourced products. I really enjoyed my dish, the roasted Pollock. My partner had the game bourguignon, which he described as "pretty good".

What a wonderful little pub situated on the outerskirts of Hastings Old Town, me and my partner arrived on a Sunday night after having arrived and researched the place. Seemed busy on arrival and only got busier! I opted for the brisket which was phenomenal and she chose the fish, which had such a variety of fresh and wonderful flavours. Brilliant selection on the bar too! A wonderful stout and staff who were knowledgeable on the wines! Only reason for 4 stars was the wait we endured for a table outside, which unfortunately can't be booked in advance.

The menu is certainly creative and looks inviting. We did not have time to eat. What I can say is this pub is attractive inside and has lots of atmosphere
