Very good food and very friendly staff. Had to wait for service to start but it was well worth the wait. The table we sat at was a little too high for the seat provided so was not very comfortable for eating but not all tables were like this. The nibbles were very well portioned so it felt like a starter so would not have both next time. Very nice atmosphere in the garden. Would definitely come back and would highly recommend this pub/restaurant. Good choice of wines and selection of beers. Well done to the chefs and all the staff! You were working very hard to keep front of house happy.

Just had a great lunch in the garden!… superb setting and views. Very tastefully furnished in an upmarket rustic style. Ben waited on us along with another chap (sorry I didn’t catch his name)…. Both very friendly and attentive without being pushy. Food was excellent, perhaps pricier than other places but very individual and great for special occasion.

Lovely setting in a beautiful village, however we were very disappointed by the service. We were a party of 10, but there was a larger wedding party (that arrived later than us) that the staff was giving all their attention to. We arrived with hungry young children and wanted just some bread to tide them over, which we had to ask for 5 times before being served. We then wanted to share some of our meal with the kids, and requested extra plates multiple times, but never got these. Overall a disappointing experience

A wonderful place to visit. The staff were very friendly, attentive and knew the menu and were able to explain, advise and describe. On being shown to our garden table we were immediately offered water (a warm day) and a bowl of water was brought for our little dog.Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and well prepared and far above a 'normal' pub standard.Highly recommended.

Only eaten here once. Charming, stylish gastropub in very pretty, quiet village surrounded by beautiful countryside. Friendly helpful staff. Great good. Not super adventurous but really nicely cooked from fresh ingredients. On the traditional British side but non the worse for it. Had a very nice meal. Would go again if in the area.

A month or so ago, I booked an evening meal here for my husband's birthday. We found a warm & friendly welcome in comfortable surroundings. Excellent food & service. They remembered without prompting that it was a special birthday meal & went the extra mile in decorating my husband's dessert. Just lovely!

Very nice out in the country scenery. Warm, welcoming place. Medium price range but worth every penny. Me and my friend both ordered the fish and chips.Succulent fish and Chunky chips, but they were tasty not dry chips.Recommended fully.

Stayed locally at Amberley Castle but came here for dinner as more kid friendly. Really good. Friendly and very tasty. Excellent "nibbles" as part of the starters - recommend the sausage roll bites especially! Pies excellent, and my wife had special of Dover Sole that was delicious. Recommend.

What can I say.... five stars just isn't enough... 10, 15, 20 stars...The food wonderful... just wonderful.... the accommodation SO comfortable. The breakfast.... superb. The staff.... I cannot praise them highly enough. Friendly, helpful, chatty. We had the pleasure on our first night of spending some time with the chef after service. His passion for his food was a joy to behold. His affection for his colleagues was wonderful, as was theirs for him. The staff get on, it felt like a family... so... some taking the mickey, but ultimately they all pull together as a team to make The Black Horse a fantastic venue.Go. Eat, drink, stay. You will love whichever you do!

What a hidden gem this place is. My partner and I had a fabulous meal here on Saturday evening. The pub was busy, the restaurant was very busy, it had a lovely welcoming atmosphere, warm and cosy in the bar area. Staff were brilliant, food beautiful. Loved the open kitchen, was great to watch the kitchen staff, working like a well oiled machine. Every single dish that came out was beautifully presented and looked amazing. My partner ordered Scallops to start, which were delicious, served with black pudding, largest scallops ever and all cooked to perfection. ( I didn’t have starter as wanted to save room for pudding). I had cod loin served with prawn croquettes on a bed of kale, which was so good. My partner had Steak and ale pie,, served with thick cut chips, only order if hungry this was a huge portion of deliciousness, proper hand made pie full of flavour and meat.We did manage to squeeze in pudding too, and shared rice pudding, which was very good, but we also shared a panecotta which absolutely divine. Overall a wonderful evening . This is not ordinary pub food! We can’t wait to go back again.
