Always used to be a favourite of ours but found the food disappointing. Hopefully this is due to the refurbishment going on around it and it will get back to the standards they used to have.

Lovely tables with umbrellas for sitting outside enjoying views over the garden centre. Great lunchtime menu with lovely sandwiches, jackets etc. Cakes menu looked worth popping back for. Just a bit of a muddle while they turn garden centre into department store

I really wanted to like this place because the food options and cakes look lovely. However it’s the third visit and the service is just appalling. I’ve given you three chances but this time really took the Michael, so now you get a review.Attended on a Saturday at 1pm. Yes, I know it’s busy but there were multiple servers just milling around doing nothing. This time it was 25 minutes before an order was taken and then 1 hr 15 before the server realised that she hadn’t even put the order through. No real apology, just told they would get on it immediately.I was too hungry to leave but I could tell hubby was getting hangry so anything wrong with his food, we would be out of there. So his Ploughmans arrives and it’s a bit of ham, bread and a pickled onion….no cheese or any of the little touches promised on the menu. No cheese on a ploughmans….Yes, this was enough for husband. I took the food back - again no apology. We asked for a refund on the ploughmans and a rather moody woman, who I assume is the manager, came over with a card machine and stroppily carried out the function with a face on her like we had evicted her from her home or something. Oh and guess what, no apology. We left, for the last time and went to Billy’s up the road where we were treated like customers and not inconveniences.

Lovely big bowl of homemade mushroom soup with really fresh tomato foccacia bread for a reasonable cost. Served within 25 mins in comfortable surroundings by friendly staff.

Really lovely cafe. Huge selection of home made cakes, generous slices and good coffee too

Went to have a quick coffee and lunch. After being seated, it took 15 minutes to then give in our order. Having seen other tables being slow, we decided just to get a cappuccino, breakfast tea and a brownie. This then took half an hour to get to us... and I know small but no chocolate on the cappuccinoI understand 1pm Sunday is busy, but I think the process of being sat down, ordering and then getting our order could be improved significantly. Different people seating us, taking our order and giving us our coffee/food... maybe too many people for one table? Brownie was lovely hence 2 stars instead of 1, but 45 minutes seated until getting our coffee is a bit much

Pleasant oak framed building, great food, all let down by awfully slow service. Acceptable once order taken, but the wait for someone to take the order is atrocious. Scrap table service, go back to queuing at the servery.

Location is lovely, particularly sitting outside, and the lady that served us was excellent, very efficient. However, we had to wait several minutes to be seated, which considering there were four members of staff around the till just a few metres away is annoying - I eventually had to ask to get their attention, and when I did, I was told I was interrupting their work. Food is good, but their system is very inefficient - we waited 25 minutes for food, which is not too bad, but the people next to us eventually just left as they'd been waiting far longer and still not received anything - apparently there's a fault with the ordering system that tickets don't go through to the kitchen. I know that traditionally garden centre cafés are a bit inefficient, but they could solve many of these issues with a better system.
