Visited on xmas eve for a meal. A beautiful pub inside with a fire and decorated so nice with all the Christmas displays. The food was amazing. First time here and we will definitely be back. First class food.

We walked from Pitersfield to Amberley through the South Downs Way, and didn’t know there is a pub near the train station. Was such a treat after 3 days of hiking to find such a cozy pub.We each got a pint of our chosen bitter and then we went with day’s special of this yummy pie and veggies.We ate it all. And then decided to have a share of an apple crumble which happened to be berry crumble which is not a problem. Only thing is we believe it was microwaved and some of the berries became mush. But honestly it was all so yummy and the service was so lovely.Also for anyone worrying about social distancing, all the staff wear masks and there is god space between tables.Toilets are only used one person at a time.We haven’t been in a pub in a long time and this was a great way to finish our hiking adventure.Thanks !

One of my rare 5-star reviews. Stars for the beauty of this 450 year old building, the location, the friendly and fun staff, atmosphere inside, the menu and the quality of our dinner. We had some nice beers and wines, and the dinner is on the pictures here. All prepared with care and very tasty. Will be back!

We were staying at Amberley Castle and thought we'd venture out for dinner one night and came across this place. They had a friendly atmosphere and nice scenery alongside really great pub grub. We both ordered burger meals at a reasonable price which came in great portion sizes to fill up the hungriest of us and a taste to match the size. Recommended place to visit.

Great food (tasty and large portions). I had the fish and chips, the rest of my family had what is shown in the pictures. We walked there from Arundel (and took the train back) and hence we didn't book as we didn't know what time we would arrive. Had it been a warm spring or summer Saturday I don't think we would have got in with our dogs as it was pretty busy! Definitely recommend this pub.
