Just enjoyed the most delicious lunch in delightful setting. My companion came down from London and declared it well worth the trip. Venison carpaccio, leeks with cheese , mackerel, polenta cake, cheese selection …. All absolutely perfect. First class friendly service. Highly recommended.

Walked from the carpark at cissbury ring over to the restaurant for lunch. Beautiful walk, about an hour. Perfect set up for eating. 2 adults without kids in tow. Great location and surroundings. Lovely building, staff and food. unpretentious and relaxed. Had the wine from the estate, which was great. Interesting lunch menu. Small but perfect for the occasion. Lovely beamed barn interior and nice courtyard for alfresco drinks or dining. Overall experience was great and best of all it is very good value for what could be considered fine dining.

I think the first comments regarding this restaurant is that it’s clearly aiming for the top end of the market and so prices do reflect this. However. the venue and food were of the highest quality. Now if I’m being ultra picky I’d say that firstly no signage along the A24 (it’s very difficult to find) and they need to look a portion size, while I don’t want to be overwhelmed by a mountain of food the portions need to be upsized slightly. Also 10 out of 10 for the serving staff.Overall I’d say a very nice restaurant and I will be returning.

Superb! Having cancelled last Friday due to the storm, we rebooked. Albert was so lovely to deal with, rearranging the dates for us and meeting us on arrival today. The food was extremely good, very fresh and full of flavour. The sides of hispi and potato were absolutely superb. The environment was very comfortable with the staff being friendly, relaxed and professional. We really enjoyed our lunch - food, ambience and setting all excellent, Thank you to Albert and the team. We will be returning !

We went for breakfast here and the barn conversion and outside space has been done to a high standard. Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing. The spelt and smoked haddock kedgeree had no discernible Indian spicing and flakes of haddock were so small that at first I thought they had forgotten them. The poached eggs and bacon on toast was slightly better but the bacon was overcooked and dry.

Wow and more wow. I have had lunch and breakfast at chalk now, and the food is 5 star. Highly recommend this restaurant. If you like fine dining, you must go to chalk, the chef creates the most amazing recipes and manages to blend the ingredients into an art form of super tasty meals. We are booked in for lunch on Thursday and cannot wait. The surroundings are laid out beautifully. I cannot wait for summer, to be able to sit in the courtyard with the gorgeous water feature eating lunch.I have tried many restaurants around the world, and chalk has gone straight to the top of my list as the best so far.Staff are lovely.I will be a regular customer.Thank you Chalk.

Went for breakfast with my preschooler. When we walked in I was worried that the staff might be a bit uptight - the interior is very contemporary and well ordered - I was pleasantly surprised, the staff were warm and friendly. The menu is slightly limited; I had the granola with apple and yoghurt which was a great mix of flavours and textures. It's a more expensive option for us so an occasional treat. I look forward to going again especially for dinner.

We had the most beautiful brunch at Chalk Restaurant on New Year’s Eve.The food was outstanding (we both had eggs florentine with black pudding), the atmosphere was perfect - clean, spacious and bright, and the team were so knowledgeable and passionate, it really was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year. The highlight of the brunch was definitely the sparkling wine, which was absolutely beautiful. My husband enjoyed a glass of the blanc de blancs, and I had the classic 2017 cuvée. I would probably go as far as to say it was the best sparkling wine I’ve ever tasted. We had a walk around the estate (in the fog and rain) afterwards which was lovely, and the perfect way to round off our visit to Wiston!

Had the pleasure of dining at Chalk for lunch. We tried almost everything on the menu. The food was excellent. Flavours perfectly balanced, beautifully cooked and plated. Modern British. Good wine list, lots available by the glass. The Wiston still white wine, "tank five", is a superb companion to the menu. Fair prices for the quality, lovely service and setting. One of, if not the, best restaurant we've been to in the area.

A good call for breakfast. Unfortunately the Wine tasting/ shop wasn’t open yet, but the development has been done to the highest standard. The Barn conversion into the Restaurant is lovely & Service was excellent. Food was good but portions a little on the small side: lot of empty space on the plates. Hoping the menu expands as this is just the first week since opening. We will be back soon!
