We had wonderful lunch at The Royal hotel on the 3/7/22, Al Fresco dining in the Geranium Garden. This is such a beautiful setting and lovely relaxing atmosphere. The food as always is second to none, we would recommend every dish on the menu. We had a three course lunch and started with the signature dish of The Royal is the Gallybagger Cheese Soufflé which we both tucked into and thoroughly enjoyed, for the main we both chose the Pork Belly with seasonal veg, roast potatoes and Granny Smith puree. The Pork Belly just melted in the mouth and everything on the plate just came together, nothing is too much trouble for the staff at the royal and they aren't intrusive but very alert to any situation if its the water glass needs refilling or possibly another drink. We finished off with a passion fruit cheesecake and a lemon parfait, the staff are always happy and what a pleasure to be sat in a calm environment enjoying a Sunday lunch with my fiancé.We both would thoroughly recommend The Royal Hotel to everyone and we hope to be back soon... possibly for our wedding?Thank you team royal!

Beautiful hotel, very attractive old stone and lovely gardens which are well maintained. Small swings and outdoor pool. Disability access and toilets best I have ever seen. Excellent decor and wedding venue, chairs well presented with a wedding isle. The bar was great. Food served which was good standard and well presented. All staff smiling and welcoming. Suitable for young and old and disabled. I did not stay in a room so can only comment on downstairs public areas.

Lovely hotel. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Were lucky enough to stay a few nights and got to speak to the same staff over the days.Particularly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and cocktails in the bar.Small Tip,it would be nice to be given menus for dinner, rather than having to get up and take them from the bar, when there were 3 barman on hand.

Stayed for my husband’s birthday. Fantastic staff, food was outstanding and the room was perfect. Excellent quality and value for money. We will definitely stay again

We love the olde worlde charm of this hotel,a warm welcome and attentive service in the restaurant,I did feel the evening menu was a little contrived and would benefit from being simplified. Our room was OK but the extractor in the bathroom seemed to work in reverse !!I was impressed that the hotel offered an extra night at a bargain rate if we weren't willing to travel back to mainland due to the storm warning.

Ate a delightful three course lunch here as a group of four. The food was absolutely amazing!!!! Can't fault it. I had lamb with spicy chickpeas and burnt aubergine. I was a bit dubious about the aubergine which tasted very burnt on its own, but when eaten with the chickpeas, wow it was sensational! The smokey burnt taste with the sweet/spicy chickpeas was so delicious. Overall service was excellent, lovely atmosphere and the food that was a pleasure to eat. If you like good food, I highly recommend eating here.

Went for afternoon tea, the staff were so helpful and attentive. The atmosphere was very relaxing, had a drink in the bar before having the cream tea, which we had inside as of the rain, it would be nice to have in the garden in better weather. There was no feeling of being rushed everything went at our pace. The range of items we got was good, especially to cover some allergens.
