Wonderful countryside pub, friendly service, gorgeous food and even view of the sea in the back of the scenery if one sits outside. I had a swordfish burger which was divine.

Heading out to the Theatre, thought we would re-visit one of our favourite eateries first, and yet again the experience was lovely throughout.Have to say, booking is essential, as they fill tables easily. With the picturesque landscape from the dining area it's no wonder. We'd never been seated in the window tables before, so this just added to the experience, and watching the weather pass along the Solent was wonderful. The Blacksmiths have a specials board and however inviting the options looked, I was rather famished, so the mixed grill was my only real option. (sure the 16oz T Bone would've filled the hole, but fancied variety 🙂)The missus choosing the smaller option of the Pork Belly, leaving room for dessert. It was beautiful, cooked to perfection, medium rare my preference and accompanied by a pint of Inch's Cider, our server, friendly, approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The Pork Belly, I'm informed melted in the mouth and was also delicious with creamed mash and veg.Dessert, I'm usually a starter / main man, but seeing a White Chocolate and Raspberry Creme Brulee' held me to indulge my sweet side. My Gem opting for the highly anticipated Strawberry Pavlova with Chantilly Cream. Both desserts were presented beautifully and were delicious, leaving both of us full and totally satisfied. We cannot rate The Blacksmiths high enough on our 'I.O.W must eat at' list as their team are amazing, food is lovely and the locale is beautiful. You simply must try here.

Not sure about the best Sunday roast on the island, more like the best Sunday roast in the UK. I had the pork, but everything looked terrific. Also very good beer, and excellent (albeit slightly harassed) staff. Cannot recommend highly enough

As one of the highest reviewed pubs on the island that allow dogs I thought we would give it a try for lunch. When we arrived they were kind and accommodating showing us to a table but seemed a little shocked that we hadn't booked in advance. To be fair given that it was early March, lunch time on a Tuesday, no holidays etc, it was soo busy! I'm not surprised now I've tasted the food!I'm quite fussy, but opted to have the (huge) chicken breast with garlic butter. It was divine, melt in the mouth chicken. I've never been able to cook chicken like that. The added mushroom in the picture was from my partners mixed grill (a little oily) but still lovely. He was very impressed with the mixed grill as well, which was absolutely huge he ended up in a food coma and falling asleep when we got back to our accommodation!I fully reccomend eating here yourself, but would probably advise booking a table first!

Delicious food and a varied menu, lovely views and pleasant staff

It was lovely. Lovely staff. Amazing meal. Really good prices. It was our first visit but a great place to spend our anniversary! I had pork belly, other half had katsu curry. Puddings were salted caramel cheesecake and I had chocolate fondant! Tasted so good, really generous portions too! The place was very cosy and quaint.

Came here for lunch on birthday and it was just perfect in every way! The food was exceptional, beutifully presented and generous in terms of portion size. The menu was varied with plenty of choice. We were well looked after by the staff and made to feel very welcome. The view is gorgeous. I’ll certainly be back!

Lovely pub with large garden and lots of seating, children's play frame, great location, 180° views towards mainland.Fabulous lunch all looked and tasted homemade. Lambshank pie, half portions available, and beautiful beef brisket, vegetables and potatoes/chips.Second visit here, will definitely come again.

We arrived at The Blacksmiths in the dark with a great veiw over and accross the valley.Every meal we had was excellent. I had a pea soup for starters and absolutely loved it. Mains, I had Lamb Rump, cooked to perfection. It had a proper amount of gravy, non of these little thimbles. I had extra portion of peas with mine. Just lovely. No puddings needed as I was stuffed, I was surprised as I like my food and can eat loads. We enjoyed a table service which was great. All the waitresses had impeccable lovable nature's and are a credit.Next time we are on the Island this will be on our hit list for a visit. Thanks to all the staff specially the chefs. Thanks.

Had a great meal with the family. Good menu with a separate specials menu on the blackboard. Very busy but the staff were working really hard and service was still prompt. The view is outstanding worth the trip alone. With a nice outside kids play area and plenty of outside seating. Recommend you book. We phoned up for a booking on Monday and couldn't get in until Friday. But based on our meal it was worth the wait.
