Cracking views, food (try the steak and ale pie- beautiful) and service. Worth booking ahead as there aren't too many available tables.

Always enjoyed staying here. Friendly staff, great pub, especially when coming in from a cold wet walk. Good food and refreshments (only sampled the beer). Bunkhouse, nice and warm, showers nice and clean. The shop is well stocked with breakfast and coffee ( ok, not just beer) is available in the morning.Things to knowThere's is a little kitchen area around the Bunkhouse so you can bring your camping oven etc.Mask need to be warn here at the moment in respect of the owners wishes (Not a problem). The pub did seem limited in spaces so do book.Flip flops for showers, they're warm and also have metal stool in there with the usual hook.Waking up and seeing the views in the morning, you may struggle to leave.

Enjoyed a really lovely meal here on our last night at Hartsop Fold, which is a 5 minute drive away. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff helpful. They weren't serving lunches but I expect they've had a really busy season and are obviously taking COVID seriously, which to me, can only be a good thing.

Our stay here was made memorable by the fantastic hospitality shown by the team, especially Mark and Lucy, thank you. The setting is outstanding and perfect as a base for some fabulous walking. The rooms are clean and tidy albeit, by nature of the building, a little small and the beds rather bouncy. The food is good but not great. In summary a comfortable unpretentious inn with great hospitality, thank you.

Absolutely amazing place. Strongly recommend anyone to try this place if you are around. I'm always quite reluctant to go into pubs but we were so hungry, we just stopped by this as we were passing by on the route to another destination. Service is spot on. Felt like they care for every single customer who comes through the door. They cleaned the tables very quick and on the top of their service at all times while you are at the table. And good did not disappoint at all.... It was perfect and couldn't ask for anything better. Although feared that it will be frozen stuff. We ordered vegeterian curry and hake fillet. Starter was ribs and meat was falling off the bone, exactly as you would expect.Absolutely amazing place to chill, have a good food and great view to top it all off, not to forget the amazing staff whose service is outstanding.

Had a lovely meal here when we were staying. The terrace outside is gorgeous in the sunshine, and the service (young woman in particular) was fantastic. My girlfriend's gluten intolerance was noted when we checked in, which always boosts confidence! The chicken with gnocchi was perfectly cooked.Hotel room was basic but fine - next to the road which woke us early...

The pub was lovely and the staff were amazing, just fantastic. We left before breakfast, so they put together a rather substantial packed lunch together for us - brilliant.Nice rooms, nice food, nice place. Thank you for looking after us.

Been coming here for over a decade. Beautiful site with stunning surroundings. Food is top notch and the staff and brilliant. Great place to go to for a long or short stay.£95 for b&b which includes a decent sized breakfast with tea, coffee and fruit juices. Can't complain at all!

Simple, clean comfortable rooms. Excellent food and wide range of drinks in the pub/restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff that made the stay pleasant and stress-free. Close proximity to walking trails and Patterdale and rest of Ullswater served by local buses if needed. The view from the restaurant and beer garden made for the perfect location to stop and rest.
